'World War Z' Cast's 'The Killing's Mireille Enos As Brad Pitt's Wife

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures, once shaky about the prospects of the Marc Forster-directed zombie extravangza World War Z, is now on track to make the picture this summer. I'm told that Mireille Enos, star of the AMC hit series The Killing, is in talks to play Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane, the character played by Brad Pitt in the adaptation of the Max Brooks book. In The Killing, she plays Sarah Linden, the homicide detective trying to solve the murder of Rosie Larsen. This will be the first major-studio starring role for Enos, who starred for three seasons on HBO's Big Love. She's repped by Innovative and Authentic.

There had been speculation that Paramount would not bite on the Plan B-produced WWZ because it has a $125 million budget. But as Deadline reported, the studio brought in a couple of risk-sharing partners that will include David Ellison's Skydance. That cleared the way for the movie version of the book that looks at the aftermath of a global zombie war 10 years after the conflict, with a researcher for the UN Postwar Commission interviewing survivors in countries that were decimated by flesh-eaters. It was thorough, and a thoroughly creepy read. Matt Carnahan wrote the script.

Right on!

Anthony Mackie Offered to Star in 'World War Z'

Anthony Mackie may have lost out on "The Bourne Legacy" lead, but just two years after his breakout turn in "The Hurt Locker." studios are still very interested in the thesp for some high-profile roles. Mackie has an offer to star opposite Brad Pitt in Par's "World War Z,"

It will be great if Mackie joins this because he is a very talented actor.

Matthew Fox, Ed Harris In 'World War Z' Talks

EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Fox and Ed Harris are in talks to join Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale in the Marc Forster-directed World War Z for Paramount and Skydance Productions. Forster has also set Julia Levy-Boeken, the French actress who stars in the Israeli series alufa Ha. The film is an adaptation of the Max Brooks novel that looks back on a global zombie infestation 10 years after the fact. Fox, who just wrapped a West End stage turn in the Neil LaBute play In a Forest Dark and Deep, is separately slated to play a vicious serial killer opposite Tyler Perry in the Rob Cohen-directed I, Alex Cross for Summit Entertainment, with production starting in August. Harris just starred in the Asger Leth-directed Man on a Ledge for Summit. Fox is repped by WME and Management 360, Harris by CAA and Levy-Boeken by Weiner Management.

WWZ begins production this month after a long period in which Paramount struggled with the $125 million budget until Skydance's David Ellison stepped into the breach along with another unnamed financier to take some of the burden off the studio. With the expectation that JJ Abrams won't be able to pull together a Star Trek sequel for summer 2012, WWZ looms as an option for Paramount, as does its sequel to G.I. Joe.

Matthew ****in' Fox.

It would be great if they join this project and I'm still hoping that Mackie could join this too.

Ed Harris and Matthew Fox Drops Out Of 'World War Z'

Bad news for Paramount Pictures: Despite previous reports, Vulture hears that that neither Matthew Fox nor Ed Harris will be starring in the studio’s zombie-pocalypse thriller, World War Z.

Fox has a scheduling conflict stemming from his prior commitment to star in I, Alex Cross with Tyler Perry at Summit Entertainment; less clear is why the Harris deal didn’t make.

Wow, can't believe this is actually happening. This has so much potential.

Yes!! This book was great. I thought this thing was dead in the water, glad to see it's coming together.

I still can't believe Brad Pitt is going to be in a zombie movie. Pitt is attached to star in a lot of projects, but usually drops out of most of them. So it always astounds me when he actually stays with one. Especially this movie. I still can't believe it.

So glad to see that this movie has finally started filming. I haven't read the book yet , but I'll buy it as soon as I have the chance.

I truly hope this ends up well. I'm not a big fan of the director however.

I am definitely looking forward to this one.. has any one read the book it's based on?

Yes, it's awesome.

Also, Bryan Cranston.

Small but flashy role. Hmm, wonder who that could be. So does anyone know how they're handling the narration of the story? Is Brad's character going to be going around interviewing people still and we'll see their stories in flashbacks? Or will we follow Brad's character through the actual zombie apocalypse?

Its supposed to Pitt's character doing interviews, but there will probably be a decent amount in between stories of Pitt in the aftermath.

So they probably wont be able to cover all of the stories. Which ones would you guys like to see translated to film?

For me I'd love to see the story of the dogs they used to combat zombies. That story really tugged at my heart strings, especially since I have a wiener dog.

Mumbai with the waves of zombies rushing towards the beach is essential. One thing I kind of hope the keep because it can be done pretty quickly is the people stuck on the ISS and how you could actually see rivers of zombies runnning across kansas from space.

The ISS thing would be awesome to see. I hope they talk about what the Koreans did, that was actually one of the scariest parts in the book, in my opinion.
