How do you do a zombie movie correctly though, If you are referring to the book adaptation I understand. But there's no WRONG way to do a zombie movie, its all about the directors interpretation. Everyone has a different idea of how a zombie flick should be there's no right and wrong way.

I disagree. Have you seen Zombie Diaries? Just...ugh

I tell everyone about it. People make fun at the fact that I own the Zombie Survival Guide but I tell them "Hey at least I'm prepared."

I often tell my co-workers you can never be prepared enough for the impending zombie apocalypse.

MTV received a surprise announcement when interviewing World War Z author Max Brooks at the San Diego Comic-Con today. Brooks confirmed that the Marc Forster-directed adaptation of his novel is moving forward at Paramount Pictures with Brad Pitt attached to star in the lead role.

Brooks also revealed that Paramount has optioned the movie rights to "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks" graphic novel.

Pitt's production company Plan B first secured the rights to World War Z back in 2007.

Brooks says that the studio is targeting a Summer 2012 release for the film, about a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies. Brooks -- the son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft -- wrote a detailed tale in which a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after the crisis, to gather a first-person post-mortem on a war that obliterated every country on the map.

The original screenplay was written by J. Michael Straczynski, but was later rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan.

Brad Pitt's starring, huh?

F*** Yes! I am excited now, Finally some damn news on this movie.

I liked Stranger Than Fiction, but I agree that Foster has been a weird director. He's indie but not too indie. He's mainstream but not too mainstream. I can't place him any category because sometimes I feel like he's too safe to be anything.

I mostly blame the script for QOS.

Brad Pitt and zombies? Hot damn, this could be cool!

I'm glad to see movement on this again. Any idea if they're still planning to do this like an actual documentary? That's a huge part of the draw for me.

Financially, I think this is the Zombie film to really break out into the mainstream. Zombieland is so far the highest grossing Zombie film and this film has the potential to gross what it did in its opening weekend.

Something like District 9 but with zombies? If so I could dig that. Brad Pitt interviewing people and telling their stories about it.

Ah, hell, I want to see Brad Pitt blow off a zombie's head. I'm not the only one who wants to see this right?

I wonder how much the Walking Dead tv show will influence this movie. The way the book was set up gears more towards a tv series than a movie, so I wonder if the reception to the Walking Dead will heavily influence how they're gonna do this movie.

which script are they going with? from what I heard the first script was like oscar worthy but then they decided to go a different direction. I'm just curious to see how this turns out. I hope they dont neuter this story of all the politcal undertones and commentary. if they do it right this movie could be amazing. otherwise just sort of meh

Yeah, the first script was described as the Lord of the Rings of Zombie movies. Hopefully that just wasn't a bunch of people talking out their ass.

Nah, I see Brad playing Todd Wainio.

World War Z Moving Forward; Robert Richardson to Serve as DP for the film

Marc Forster‘s film of World War Z appears to be on the absolute tip of the cusp of the verge of crossing the line and entering production. Right as we speak, the film’s cinematographer is busy prepping at one of London’s big film studios.

The DP in question is Robert Richardson, who recently wrapped Martin Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret down at Shepperton. This time he will be working out of another one of our big production bases, over at Elstree. Amongst Richardson’s other credits are Kill Bill, Natural Born Killers and Eight Men Out. He’s commonly referred to as a “stylist” and I can certainly see why.

It's great to see this project moving forward after being in development for quite a while.

Finally. Nice to see this thing back from the dead.;)

Wow they're making a movie of this? I loved the book. Done right, this could be the proper zombie epic we've all been waiting for.
