Pitt really needs to cut his hair. He looks greasy with a mullet.

Yeah, but District 9 was a summer release and it wasn't a straight up spectacle. It was also very successful while still being innovative.

Not trying to pre-judge the movie or whatever, either...it could end up being smart, too. Just saying summer movie doesn't always have to equate to brainless Michael Bay blockbuster.

This could if World War Z didn't cost 4x more than District 9. If you spend that kind of money you can't really hope to make it back without turning it into a spectacle.

Footage looks generic as hell. At least Quantum of Solace looked interesting.

I didn't mind that they wouldn't make a direct adaptation of the book though the could've just choose different sections of the book and expand it as the narrative format but I'm not surprised that they'd throw the potential the book has with its different approach that raise a lot of relevant political, social and moral questions and just make a by the numbers blockbuster.

This reminds me of 28 Days Later on a bigger scale. Actually some of that footage reminds me of one the earlier scenes of 28DL. One of the survivors was telling Jim about his escape from a crowded airport. A mob of people were trying to get onto an airplane and some of the infected made their way into the crowd. The only way he escaped was to climb over a bunch of people.

The CG needs work. What's so funny is that the post production on this has been frickin' long. No excuses!

They pushed back the movie because of reshoots and obvious CG work.
I haven't seen the trailer though ( can't view it here at work) but it does make sense.

One thing I think is great is just how epic this looks. We've never really had an epic zombie film before. They usually take place in isolated areas but I love how this has the vast scope of a summer blockbuster.

The production problems aren't good signs, but who knows. I'm looking forward to the trailer.

Honestly I think it's refreshing to see something new. Yes, the CG is obviously still being ironed out, but it must be so difficult to be the director of a zombie movie and make it look and feel like something we haven't already seen 1000 times. Currently it does have sort of an "I Am Legend" vibe to it because of all the CGI, but I'm sure when the film is finally released it will all look great.

It does make sense because in most zombie media we only see pockets of zombie attacks at a time. If something went down in a metropolitan area with millions being turned all at once, this is what it would look like.

I absolutely love that scene in 28DL. Without seeing anything at all, the visuals from the story he tells are truly haunting.

It's Thursday, where's this thing at already? :cmad:

rahrrr hambargarz!
after the studio noticed the reaction on the internet for the clip they decided to delay the movie for 24 months. they will replace every actor . :woot:

I like the look of the short bit of footage we have seen so far. I'm still wondering how they are going to format the movie from the book. I hope they are able to use at least some of the individual stories that were told in the book versus reimagining everything from scratch.

I don't know why they paid to have use of the title when it doesn't really resemble anything in the book. Unless this truly is a character study and the marketing is doing a bait and switch.

How much longer are they going to abuse that Inception/Transformers horn sound effect?
