Really odd watching that trailer. I remember it filming in Glasgow last year, the city centre was basically at a standstill.

Early parts of the trailer are just so recognisably Glasgow to me :o ...where is it meant to take place?

I wonder if the casual movie watcher not familiar with the book even registered that this movie is about zombies.

Philly, I'll recognize those skyscrapers anywhere. Hell, even the Ben Franklin bridge in a background shot.

Zombie herd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> zombie wave

I think the trailer is okay, and it's interesting to see a massive orgy of zombies who can sprint like they were Olympic athletes. But the CGI is a bit distracting, and you don't really get the feeling of dread like you get from watching The Walking Dead. For now, this movie is a rental for me.

It's got that doomsday tone right, but the actual zombie parts look laughably bad.

I think the zombie wave is actually an interesting idea but (and I'm only basing this off of the trailer) it just looks like something that can't be pulled off without looking damn hokey. But I applaud them for taking a chance with something different (and f***ing odd) for such a big budget movie. I think the whole piling up idea would look ten times better if it just wasn't so fast.

As much as I loved the book, I'm not broken up about them not following the format. I mean, we all expected it, and were basically in the know about it months ago, so it's not something really worth being angry about anymore. As it is, the footage has potential but I think the trailer was kinda shoddy. Kind of clunkily put together.

I've never read the book. I just find it odd that for all the hype around this, the parts that should sell the movie look like a video game.

This looks like all they've taken from the book is the title. A bit of a shame. I'm a fan of zombie movies so if this is good then hey but so far it looks like a generic disaster pic with brad pitt and vague references to zombies.

This looks freaking terrible. Nothing like the book.

They just like the name. I see this as being the new I Am Legend. Basically nothing like the book except it has zombies.

^ Which is consistent with Brooks' description of Mumbai.

Uh, no. Tidal wave was clearly a metaphor or figure of speech. They actually seem to form into a CGI swarm more akin to ants than a massvie crowd of zombies (which clearly run in this movie, instead of walk like in the book) in this trailer. It looks ridiculous. It is not in common with Brooks' vision at all.

What's hilarious about their total ignorance of the book is if they'd even taken concepts from all the myriad stories and put them together it would be more satisfying than just taking the name and that's it. I mean this is a book with an Otaku samurai and his blind master, a renegade Chinese submarine commander, an airship captain, a lost paratrooper trying to make her way back to civilzation, a man and his canine dog team, etc. If they wanted to morph all those characters into the same geographical location or something in an attempt to sort of adapt the book, I'd be more on board with it. As it is it looks like a mess.

Yeah i saw someone make a comment how this movie would actually serve better as the prequel to I Am Legend.

Also there is no excuse for the cg here. D9 cost probably 4 times less and the aliens looked amazing compared to this.

A trailer that is nothing like the book at all but yet...I still want to watch it. It looks pretty intense.

Yeah does look a lot like I Am Legend. CG zombie pyramids don't look very good either.

I remember some time ago seeing some behind-the-scenes pics of practical make-up and prosthetics for zombies.

What happened to all of that? Was it CG-'d entirely out of the film, or have we just not seen any of that footage yet?

Could be the reason why they pushed the movie back, probably this is another "The Thing" prequel situation.

So Brad Pitt is married to Linden in this. I thought there was some great shots and imagery in the trailer.

Why did they even bother to call this World War Z? Why not just make their own original property and call it a day? It just seems so stupid...it looks absolutely nothing like the book at all.

As it's own monster it looks like it'll be an intense movie, but I echo statements that the CGI looks god awful.
