i wouldn't call this a flop its budget was 190mill it should clear 200mill domestic unlike lone ranger that cost 250mill and probably wont clear 150mill domestic
The question is what is the real budget for this film. Considering they went back and re-shot quite a bit of footage.

I don't agree with Pitt being one of the best actors around (he's "meh" in half his roles) and I also don't think he's OMG amazing-looking.

I just don't see why he's such a big deal and never have.

*shrugs*

lol, I don't hate Pitt, I just don't don't think he's "OMG!!!1111".

I like Brad Pitt, and I feel like he is one of the few true movie stars left. No necessarily the best actor, but I just like watching him. Kinda like Tom Cruise, though I find Tom Cruise to be a much better actor.

Pitt's performances, even his better ones, lack depth to me.

In the budget they always have room for reshoots and seeing how it wasn't some huge effects driven finale, I'm guessing it wasn't much more

These weren't normal reshoots. We are talking months here. They shot 30-40 mins of new scenes. They filmed an entirely new third act.

i got a free ticket. decent movie.

shocked that this movie was over 100 millions. how and where? even if the reshoots were 30-40 millions this would still have to be under 140.

WTF

Just got the book for this, the movie has inspired me to read it so I will be very soon.

400 million.

haha no not even close. The original budget was 125 million. Then they had to do the third act reshoots which only took a month to do and that 3rd act would not be that expensive to do but I believe they have said that ended up being around $200 million

$400 million isn't hard to believe these days with P&A, off the top gross percentages, etc.

I was hearing chatter before it came out that Sony ate $400 million on MIB3.

this movie was quite honestly, horrible.

Did anyone elses theatre errupt in laughter at the zombie scenes in the research facility? I couldn't control myself after one guy up front started laughing at all the knee-jerk reactions the zombies were making. It was embarrassing because it was only a handful of guys laughing, but I was one of them. Movie had absolutely zero tension once the family found the asylum.

I have just started reading the book and even 20 pages in I can see why they changed the movie into what they did. The book doesnt have a main character and literally goes through what must be thousands of witness accounts.

You just couldnt do movie like that, people need a hero to go on a journey with so they can get to know and care about that hero and the book doesnt really provide that. I am enjoying the book very much, but I just dont see how they could have made it into a movie.

Yeah the book is much more suited as a mockumentary on HBO.

Regardless of budget, this film has done really well at the box office. Come on, did anyone expect it to do 150 M let alone 200 M at the domestic box office? And it has. No zombie film has even crossed 100 M domestically before. Its legs have also held up as well as Rise of the Planet of the Apes which means word of mouth is good.
