Yeah the book is much more suited as a mockumentary on HBO.

Definately, as a straight adaptation a movie would just not have worked. I liked the movie, and maybe now they can use some of the book in the sequel/s.

Regardless of budget, this film has done really well at the box office. Come on, did anyone expect it to do 150 M let alone 200 M at the domestic box office? And it has. No zombie film has even crossed 100 M domestically before. Its legs have also held up as well as Rise of the Planet of the Apes which means word of mouth is good.

Yep, its doing very well, I think we will get a sequel and I look forward to it.

I saw this today. Really liked it as a fresh take on a very tired genre. I loved how they blended the virus mystery with above average zombie action. Using Brad Pitt's strong performance to tie the whole thing together.

8/10

I have to say after reading more of the book they got the Israel sequence/s pretty dmn close to what is presented in the book.

they didn't use much of the book, but when they did, it was faithful to the book.

Well the Israel part is definately faithful to the book. I am only about 50 pages in so not sure of the others yet but looking forward o finding out.

See it in 2d. The shaky cam doesn't lend itself too well to the 3d

I haven't read the book, but I liked this a lot. Enough of an homage to what we know about zombies, but a fairly fresh take as well. I loved the globetrotting/investigative elements of the film, and I found Pitt's lead to be very resourceful and cleverly written. I like that they dealt with smaller things like his family getting booted off the ships once he was considered
"nonessential", and I loved the interactions he had with various characters throughout the story, and the overall theme of sacrifice. Pitt was excellent, as was most of the cast. A well made, entertaining and somewhat thought provoking film. Looking forward to a possible sequel.

Pitt's character was great, and Pitt the actor was amazing.

I saw it in 3d and really enjoyed it. Never normally a big fan of 3d either.
I saw it in both and didn't find the 3D any different or better than the 2D. I had a hard time adjusting my eyes in some of the action scenes and the shaky camera stuff didn't help.

I've started to read the book and its been a decent book so far and I do like the format of the book a lot. I haven't made it quite half way yet, but its been good(like the Yonkers part).

I really loved how smart he was in this. All the characters in general are very smart but him in particular, really loved that

I only saw it in 3D but i still enjoyed the movie a hell of a lot.

Yeah I like the book as well, would love some sequences from it to be in the sequel. Especially the part in, Tennesse I think it was, were they are trying to drag the boats that were beached to be taken apart back into the water for people to get on. I thought that part was great in the book, especially with the underwater zombies as well.

Me too, especsially considering how pumbling idiots protagonists usually are in zombies movies.

^Yeah that was good, immediatly he started doing things once he saw what was happening to protect himself and his family.

I thought it was interesting when he gets blood in his mouth and then runs to the edge of the rooftop to see if he will turn or not. Not something you usually see in a zombie movie.

And the way he saved the soldier...that was fantastic.

Both of those were great. And I liked how he tapes magazines to his arms.

Unrated 'World War Z' receives Blu-ray date

World War Z, Brad Pitt’s hit zombie apocalypse epic, will debut on Blu-ray and other home-viewing formats on Sept. 17. The action-thriller was envisioned as a trilogy, and after grossing $474 million around the world, Pitt can expect another date with the dead. The Blu-ray Combo will include an unrated cut of the film and several featurettes. “I’m really excited for fans to see the new unrated version of World War Z on Blu-ray,” said Pitt, in a statement. “We were thrilled with the audience response to the film in theaters and wanted to give viewers even more of the action and intensity that they loved when they watch the film at home.”

Z was subjected to some on-the-fly rewriting and the original ending was completely abandoned. It will be interesting to see if portions of those scenes are restored in the unrated cut, or if Pitt & Co. discuss those decisions in the extras.

For fans who can’t wait until Sept. 17, World War Z will become available as a digital-download a week earlier, Sept. 10. Click below for a description of the Blu-ray extras.

Day one purchase. One of my favorites of the year

if they have balls they could show the footage from the original ending.

God I hope not. That sounded like one of the worst endings ever. I don't think they actually shot any of it.

of course they did. they had reshoots. and why would it be bad to show it?

Oh I thought they decided not to film and the rewrites were happening during shooting. That ending sounded god awful, hilariously embarrassing
