Hmm... she doesn't look as good as Marilyn as I thought she would. There's something more icy blonde and even slight femme fatale than the actual Marilyn who had a softer look. She looks more like a Marilyn impersonator than Marilyn herself.

Yeah, I think Michelle Williams pulled off that softer, more vulnerable look.

May be an issue of the script not exactly containing all of info, or just the director going "yeah, lets porn this up".

I read that there's not much dialogue in this but it's more visual images. I don't know if that's because Ana de Armas couldn't master Marilyn's voice and get rid of her Cuban accent so they just decided to tell it visually.

They just released that Sarah Shahi show which is basically softcore porn. This might just be straight up porn.

What show is Sarah Shahi in now? I know she was in that legal one a few years ago and also in Person of Interest.

Netflix gave Andrew Dominick all that money without ever seeing an Andrew Dominick movie, huh?:funny:

I don’t get why Ana was cast for this. Can she even hit a American accent?

Ana de Armas looks either like a bank robber disguised as Marilyn or a film noir Marilyn who is plotting a murder but probably seducing someone else to do it for her.

Did Netflix not read the script before they greenlit it?
It's based on a well-known book. And those scenes are literally in the book, of course they should've known what they were buying. But at this point people are always going to believe ramdom rumors on the internet.

The film was rejected by Venice, so the film may well be just bad, that's all.

These are some very specific rumors, actually.

I'd watch either of those, or a movie that's both of them.

I don't know what rumors are going on about this, but unless there's some inappropriate things going on behind the camera or this is actually hardcore porn, I don't know why Netflix wouldn't at least want to show a director's cut eventually. I mean, they fund all sorts of stuff, it doesn't seem like the cost of making it would even be that big of a deal outside of wanting to win some awards.

I seriously doubt Ana de Armas would've signed up to this if it were hardcore porn. It's not like she's desperate. She's already been in Knives Out and is in No Time to Die.

So she’d only do porn type material if she was desperate?

What?
What are specific rumors about writing in a random blog, I don't get what this means.

The author is at awardswatch forums, he read about the Cohen's MacBeth and this being rejected by the Venice Festival, next he makes those rumors.

It's ridiculous for me to think that Netflix had no idea about this old script or the book, and a script that many people have even had for years (I haven't finished reading it), plus let's not ignore that Netflix has a bunch of gory and x-rated stuff in its libraries. Some people think those huge executives are 6 years old, I don't believe it.

The problem that I could see is if Netflix is aiming for this to be an Oscar bait and crowd pleaser type of movie (since they've wanted to release it during the Oscar seasons), and that is not going to happen. This is very much an art house film, what some typically call Weird.

DM if you want to read the script, I can share it if you stay discreet.

You sure Netflix has "X-rated stuff in its libraries"?
