Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

I definately think there should be a consultant involved at some level. I am just not sure if WB will do it.

Millar = the boy who cried wolf. The guy has made up so much stuff in the past just to get himself free press (i.e. Jim Caviezel as Superman in Returns, Eminem "begging him" to be in Wanted, the infamous Orson Welles Batman hoax, etc.)

Not to mention, his claims that "I'm a Marvel guy so WB couldn't get me to do Superman like they wanted" story was pure crap. The studio flat-out rejected his pitch. Plain and simple, I was told by a number of legit sources that Millar's latest Superman film claims are "100% ********."

It's fun to speculate. But don't take any of this seriously...

Dear Jamie, have you any idea when we are going to know an official word about the SR sequel?

show, are you in for a reboot or a sequal?

why can't routh be in a reboot, all they have to do is rework the character.

sounds like that director m.m. is talking about, wants to do the reboot of supes!!

lastly,if they do a reboot, they have to keep the John Williams score,no matter what!!

I am in for a good Superman movie, with a balance of action and emotion, pushing the character of Superman to his limits physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Whether that be a reboot or sequel, I am on board.

the reason i want to see a reboot is what m.m. said in the article about not repeating what donner did or anyone b4 or after that did. start new, fresh take, routh is not THE GREATEST SUPES/CLARK EVER=CHRIS REEVE.that's over, lets see a new take on clark kent,i'm all for that!!

Well after seeing the Watchmen trailer before TDK.....I am now convinced that if WB's goes with a JL movie in say 2012 with Bale and Routh, then Zack Snyder should be the director! :hehe:

Same here. At first I only wanted a sequel, mostly because of Routh (and in fear they might change the theme with a reboot), but at this point I'll also take a reboot. As long as it has what you mentioned and they find the right guy to play Superman that is.

I'm sick of reboots. Give Singer a chance to do a great action movie. He's learned.

LOL, before he said the 'big name American action director' had big pull in WB now the guy isn't affiliated with WB at all and they aren't looking for a reboot.

Millar's nuts, and if he is talking to this big action director it's probably someone like Bay.

Oh man, that'd be sick.:word:

i doubt there will be any justice movie at all. they may wait and see how the avengers do first. if anything i can see a batman vs. superman movie someday.

look at the feast the batman fans have been given compared the disgrace the superman fans were given. I hope millar gets the gig and total reboots superman and gives the fans something to cheer. I'm am so jealous of batman fans right now. :csad:

Are you sure the fans will cheer over Superman believing himself to have a higher authority over the human race and Lois sleeping her way to the top? 'Cause that's Millar's vision of Superman, and that just ain't right.

that's a great take!

and somehow "true to the core".

do you prefer the lame boy scout Superman who is totally whiny (oohhh my Lois)? I want the Alpha Male Superman back. Like George Reeves.

...But that's what Superman is. The Big Blue Boyscout. Superman isn't all about slam, bang, and bashing Mongul/Doomsday/Darkseid to smithereens. He needs to have the soft emotional side (and yes, romantic interest in Lois Lane) to be relatable...and interesting for God's sake.

And sorry, but Lois Lane is not a ****e despite what Mark Millar thinks.

Actually it is. The Boyscout is a thing from the 50s. Get over it.

LOL; where does this soft emotional side come from? Don't watch so much Lois & Clark.

well, based on her behaviour it's a legimitate take. This Superman/Lois thing is totally overrated.

I say give him a shot. Look we all (ok at least me) want to see Superman vs. a vilian other than Lex. Give us a vilian who can stir it up and scrap with the Man of Steel.

I just want a supervillian that can give Superman a run for his money.... have that and I will be happy.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say ''we all want to see a supervillain other than Lex, WITH a battle"

oh, and welcome.

That is absolutely overblown. I'd like to know how exactly Millar's take calls for a ****ish Lois. Because she's slept with people? Newsflash: people f**k. Especially famous celebs or people with a reputation. A lot of them anyway.

Unless Lois is out banging random dudes on a daily basis for some cash or blow, I think lots of unnecessary hyperbole is being freely thrown around here.

Not because she's slept with people, but because she's slept with people to get where she is.

if they plan to take the ANGRY GOD approach then what about having Superman battle:

Jesus, Allah, Buddah and Vishnu at the same time???

Nowhere in Miller's words is that even suggested:

The Kents are Mary and Joseph and Lois is Mary Magdelene. She's the NYC girl who's ____ed her way around the city and found nobody who measures up. She's just had it with men and is focusing on her career... then Superman shows up. This is why Margot Kidder was perfect for the role and why Lois should be played by someone around 30 even if Supes is being played by a 25 year old. You'll see what I mean when we fix it.

Again, I fail to see how this makes her seem like a ****e. Coming from NYC, I know exactly the type of woman he's referring to. And they're far from ****ish.

This is the type of woman who has complete control over her life, but has trouble finding the right companion. A type of woman who is so successful at her career, that it's hard finding someone with as much drive and passion. Thus, every encounter with a potential someone just ends up falling short of expectation. Sometimes experimenting in these "quests for love" involve a physical relationship. There's nothing wrong with any of that. It's a very humane instinct and certainly provides a more modern and interesting take on the character than what Singer has given us.
