Making a movie to please the mainstream audience and a movie to please the hardcore fanbase may be two different things. The hardcore fans wanted the Transformers to transform and look exactly like they did in the cartoon. That would of looked foolish and been wrong imo. And yes many people liked Transformers. The ticket sales don't lie. Superman could do more than a billion dollars with Bay directing. He does blockbusters. That's what he does.

What is the point of your reponse? I just said that Transformers was a big hit and a Superman movie under bay would be a big hit but that I didn't want that to happen because I like watching good movies most of the time.

No. Superman is bigger than any actor. But Chris Reeve did a wonderful job and personally thought it would be impossible to get someone as good. But for me Brandon was a great Superman, he embodied the character and I think if he had more lines or more work to do in SR he would be more recognized.
Brandon was in the wrong Superman movie. In SR they needed an older actor portraying Superman after a 5 year absence. IMO.

I always thought Caviezel would have been great for SR. But I understand that Singer wanted an actor that looked like Chris Reeve since it was the same universe.

I'm sorry, but Routh acted way better than Welling, even with the lack of dialogue. A rock could act better than Welling. He has the right size and maybe the looks but he is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. He is right there with Hayden Christensen.

I really dont want Millar on this. The guy's a good comic writer, but I dont like his ideas for Superman. Some of them aren't bad, but others are downright terrible. I dont like his ideas for the Superman/Lois/Clark relationship especially, or his characterization of Superman and Lois in general.

Also, if it's true that this director he's talking about is Michael Bay, also no thanks. I like Bay for what he does, but Superman isn't the right kind of movie for him.

Yeah, I'm pretty much expecting if it is Bay, we'll get a lot of people complaining he didn't make a gritty, serious, deep movie about cars that turn into robots, so ergo he can't make a Superman movie good. I've enjoyed his movies somewhat, and at the very least we'd get the epicity a Superman film deserves.

I'm interested to know the name of this mysterious director, expecially because he wants to make a trilogy. This could be the key element.
For example we know that Bay doesn't like sequels, they had to pray him for Transformers 2...and a trilogy could be considered a gold mine by the execs.

Nevertheless I don't think that the director is Bay.
