Mark Millar's Many Thoughts On Superman

That script needed more than just rewrites and improvements. Suit in a can, Krypton is still around, Kal-El is a Kryptonian prince, and Kryptonian Lex Luthor.

Abrams should be nowhere near this project, even more than Singer. And if there's anyone who says that Abrams' Superman would have been better than Superman Returns, they're downright delusional.

I'm already disturbed by his take on Star Trek. I shudder to think what would happen to Superman under his direction.

That's what you do if you try to sell an "product idea".

Maybe he has been paying attention to the new fenomenon that is Internet. It's not amateur hour, it's innovation. Maybe he's been listening to the recent expert statements from Harvard and so on (maybe from Zittrain).

Point is to try to sell a product to the fanbase on internett. He uses the same procedure one does when aproaching companyes. One gives the synopsis and the synopsis must contain the plot point, the ending, the twists.

This is not the business model of yesturday, it's what some people think is the business model of the future. Generativity. Look it up :)

If it's succesfull remains to be seen. But if you pay attention you would not ask if its amateur hour. You will se more people trying out the generativity way, pitching their ideas to the GA to use it as a "weapon".

If Millar is doing this because he actually listen to the Harvard-guys or just stumbled into this strategy I don't know. Maybe he's not doing the Apple routine, he's going for the Wikipedia strategy.

Point is, it's not stupid to reveal the ending if he wants to make the movie "Web 2.0"-wise. If he wants the fanbase with him all studies show you don't keep it locked and you don't keep secrets. Give them the synopsis :)

Just a thought. This is not the 90's

I really like your creative use of spelling. Not kidding. It's very obviously deliberate. It's inventive and fresh.

I agree. I've never been the biggest Star Trek fan, but Abrams new movie looks horrendous!

I'm betting it will be the Speed Racer of 2009.

I can't wait till the movie is released & everyone who was a hater proclaimes thier undying love for JJ Abrams & pretends like they were supporters from the start & how they knew everything would be ok. Ahhhh nerds. :whatever:

Steve

So, the Green Lantern casting thread has turned into who is the best Flash: Wally West or Barry Allen. The Wonder Woman thread currently is about whether Robin should be in the next Batman movie. And this Superman thread is currently about the next Star Trek movie.
I blame Warner Brothers.

On another note, and to get this thread back on track, I think WB now has all their ducks in a line so to speak, or as lined up as they are going to be. I believe they are trying to move forward with their original plan and announce "a slate".

The Summit and Dark Knight has positioned WB/DC in a very different way and changed many things. Although Dark Knight was one of the best things to happen to WB, it was also a bad thing because now they have had the luxury of sitting on their laurels a bit and really thinking about how they are going to go forward. This caused a further delay as Marvel has been churning out news report after news report. I think WB is waiting for the Marvel news to stop flowing amongst other things.

I think that it has forced them to make sure the movies they will be making will be of great quality. At least I hope.

But why do you think they are trying to move forward? You heard something or is it just a hunch?

Great, so that means more waiting for us then doesnt it.

Well I loved Speed Racer, so that works for me

Oh, except for the bombing part.

Is this something you've heard or just your own personal thoughts?

Hhhhmmm, is that a hint or a hunch :cwink:.

^Now thats just cruel, it only adds to the confusion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like Star Trek but JJ's fresh take looks badass.

Yep! I agree...JJ's Star Trek looks fresh and exactly what the Star Trek series of films have needed to inject new life into the franchise.

Somebody said that it looks like the Speed Racer of 09??

LOL....I don't think so....:nono:

Why is that? I think that Abrams' Star Trek trailer looks pretty good.

Christ, this Miller thing is a bad idea. I don't want to see another damn origin or life on Krypton. I want to see Superman actually being SUPER and using his SUPER powers and beating the crap out of bad guys that also have SUPER powers.

Although I do think Millars take on Superman sounds good, I do agree with you. We need a hard hitting Superman movie, one that makes us leave with that WOW factor.

If this strike happens, we gonna have an even longer wait.

^Exactly. The strike looks like it's going to go forward.

Completely off topic: I don't think that network television is going to survive another strike.

Well, it is like Speed Racer in that it looks like its going to be great. It's not like Speed Racer in that it's budget isnt impossibly high for a kids movie, so it might actually turn a profit.

I think whats going on with ST is exactly what should be happening with Supes. We need new blood... but not necessarily Millar.

Speed Racer never looked great IMO....
