Married and You're the Worst - FX rules Thursday nights

Yes! Someone else around here who watches this show. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Great premiere last night. Especially loved the stuff with Sam. And Lindsay's realization (again) that married life with Paul sucks was awesome. Can't wait to see what happens next week.

I forgot this thread existed. :funny:

This might by my favorite show on television. Loved the new episode. My favorite bit of the episodes was either Gretchen's camp story or her attempt to get the members of the Church over to Sam's party.

That "apple juice eyes" line had me dying. :woot:
I had to pause the episode, it got me that good. Every time Sam shows up, it is pure gold.

I love this show and I'm glad it's back. I want them to go back to the frozen yogurt place again this season. Lindsay is still my girl I loved when she stabbed Paul and his reaction to that.
Lindsay is insanely hot, but she was so horrible. She was finally making progress at the end of last season and then she ended up pregnant. I am glad she is seemingly not going to fall into that trap again, but did she need to stab Paul to prove that to herself? :funny:

Yes, yes she did. Paul would have been a good man, if someone was there to stab him every day of his life.

How about throwing his bike out into traffic? Thank God he failed, otherwise someone could have died. It was so bizarre. :funny:

Sam is how I picture Chance The Rapper behind closed doors, or in real life.

Who washes their legs...?
I love how Jimmy has to start every eventual argument by nagging. It was a fair question, but he couldn't just ask it. He had to make it the biggest deal in the world.

A lot of ugly moments for these characters this episode that sets the course for this upcoming season it feels like. I didn't see the reveal coming at the end, but man does Aya Cash put on a clinic each episode.

Edgar's arc this season will seem to be dealt with the same delicacy of Gretchen's last season, and I'm excited to see how it'll play out.

Lindsey on the other hand...it's going to be hard to figure out how to redeem her in a way. Or Paul. I have a feeling they'll get to those two next week though.

Last night's episode was great! Though I was confused as to why Paul was on crutches. Is it just because he's taking so many painkillers that he can't walk right? Anyway, the way Gretchen is more or less stalking her therapist is hilarious. And any episode that features Vernon automatically is a great one. :D Also, man... Lindsay is becoming a full-blown sociopath, lol.

Last thing... am I crazy in thinking that Chris Geere (Jimmy) would make a good John Constantine? I doubt that WB is even looking at him but I think he'd be kinda perfect.

Chris Geere playing Constantine is something so different, I feel like they should do it for that very reason. I feel like he'd have it in him. Change his hair, give him a beard, change up his accent a bit etc.

Last night's episode was great. It was cool as a little counterpart to the episodes Born Dead and There is Currently Not a Problem, but with the annual Sunday Funday and perhaps season finale party at Becca's, they should avoid coming back to the same well. Vernon is such a great character, and fits perfectly with the little subversions that Falk and co. put on their characters.

Becca believing that North Koreans hacked Vernon's money is hilarious, and that heckle where Jimmy thinks Edgar looks like Lin Manuel Miranda made my sides hurt. I'm also glad they didn't drag on Jimmy's dad storyline too long, and hope that Falk and co. start picking up the pieces and tying the development of the characters together, as I really don't want Lindsey/Paul to go on too long.

A tour de force episode from YTW this week. Just tremendous.

I can already say I prefer the show's take on Edgar and his PTSD much more than Gretchen and her depression. While I liked Season 2- though not to the extent as Season 1- that subplot brought the show to a crawl. That and I personally just don't get depression at all as an 'illness' or concept, but found Edgar's PTSD more captivating. And it helps that the show's been building it up, mostly as a punchline, but now giving it serious focus.

Thanks to FXX being inexplicably being added to by channel package, I was able to watch this through On Demand and finished up the season this weekend. I still have the Lido Shuffle stuck in my head.

Season 4 premiere last night was pretty good and like that it was split half with Jimmy, half with Gretchen. A nice change of pace to see them in their rundown states and admittedly, I find coked out Gretchen infinitely more interesting to watch than depressed Gretchen.

And for Edgar and especially Lindsay to go from being sidekicks to the most responsible members of the four, we've entered the Bizarro world no doubt.

Stephan Falk is such a great director. I just love how he shoots both halves of the premier, and Jimmy's half is just like a little indie film.

Aha Cash still is one of the best actresses on TV today, and props to showing a Gretchen that's obviously not okay but not a retread of S2 Gretch.

The one liners are still killer.

I loved the return, especially Gretchen's half. The bit with One Week... :lmao:

Caught up on the last two episodes, and my goodness have the one-liners just been on fire this season. Just fantastic.

Also, the look of the show has most definitely changed this year. Wonder if it's a DP or a Falk demand, but it's more cinematic than ever. The editing isn't as choppy and I feel like we're spending more time than ever with Chris and Aya's faces.

To me last nights episode was good but Gretchen took it to far IMO. I personally think that even if she wanted to get back together with Jimmy that he shouldn't take her back. It's one thing to be upset with him and just go off on him it's another thing for her to have sex with another man in his (Jimmy) bed while he (Jimmy) is in the house to hear everything. No self respecting man would stand for that. I actually felt for him.

I actually think Falk is doing a great job of keeping these characters apart but also within close proximity of each other. But it'll come down to how he'll bring Jimmy and Gretch back together again. If it doesn't really follow the emotional logic and truth of the show, then it'll be kinda all for naught. Hope Falk nails it.

But I do enjoy how fresh it is. Jimmy does still want to be Gretchen, and Gretchen is still rightfully hurt and wants to get back at him. I'm super curious as to how Jimmy and Gretchen will get back together.
