Western Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio Eye Killers of the Flower Moon

I wonder if this will connect to the August: Osage County cinematic universe. :o

More castings have been announced. Really like Tatanka Means as Native American FBI operative John Wren and Scott Shepherd (Bridge of Spies) as one of the Burkhart brothers.

Also feels right that Scorsese is including a Jeff Nichols alumnus in a story like this with Michael Abbott Jr.

It's odd to think about since they've worked together so many times, but it'll be almost a decade when this is released since Scorsese and DiCaprio have worked on a feature together.

Clean sweep at the 95th Academy Awards.

(I assume this won't make it out by this year)

The Academy still don’t loves Marty. Departed was only a present for Godfellas, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. Aviator was the last time an actress or actor in movies got an Oscar.

Something is off about him, but I can't place it. It's either the nose or eyes.

DiCaprio looks dirty and dingy -- still extremely recognizable -- like someone pulled him straight off "Inception".

For a period movie, the $200M price tag is ridiculous. I get that Scorcese and DiCaprio are a pricey combo, but even with these two, it shouldn't even cost $150M. This isn't a shoot-'em up, VFX laden tentpole.

Have you read the book?

The expansive cast with name leads and art direction are going to be very, very expensive. The story spans many years and locations. There's an explosion that decimates a whole block. And the rumor is that they might be shooting 6-8 months.

There are a lot of reasons this is going to cost a ton.

De Niro on set.

And that's why major studios don't want to bankroll Scorsese's movies anymore. They'll jump on distributing theatrically, but they'll let companies like Netflix and Apple+ fund his vanity projects.

Yes, a guy with a distinguished 50+ year career as a professional filmmaker and a crew of some of the best collaborators in the business must not know what they're doing with budgets.
