Marvel Comics Presents

I always liked the Andy Kubert drawn series.

Absolutely.

But the Jones/Anderson run from the 80's was also top-notch. at least the first year and a half worth of issues.

Also liked Mike Friedrich's 70's Ka-zar.

The only time I read Ka-Zar was when he crossed over with the Hulk.

That Dave Wilkins art isn't anything to sneeze at either. Pretty much everything about this book looks solid.

Yeah, but the question is, how long can they keep it that way? Marvel Team-Up started out ridiculously strong, with Kirkman writing, Kolins on art, and a pretty good plot, but then it petered out towards the middle before really strengthening again (unfortunately) in the last arc or two.

Considering this is comprised of various creators doing various fresh ideas for 8 pages a month, I'd say this can go on forever. They come in, do their story and get out to make way for the next guy.

I'd love for it to go on forever, but my point is that you never can tell. The first crop of stories could be awesome, but then there could be a dry spell where all the stories suck. Sort of like how DC's anthology series have been working. JLA Classified started out on a good story, had a few great stories, and is now pumping out average, boring stories. Hopefully MCP will avoid that and keep drawing in great creators with great stories. But anthologies are tricky to keep the momentum up on.

I bought all 175 issues of the first series on a bootleg cd for $3 + shipping last year. I first series was great, I just hope this one isn't over run with the same characters month after month, pretty much every issue had wolverine or a major X-person or Ghost Rider or all three.

The Uni-power-esque patriot looks very cool. As do all the alien Spider-Men. I'm looking forward to the Hell-Cat, Namor and Man-Thing stories. The star of the Vanguard story... is Stacy Dolan? Isn't she the daughter of the cop from Ghost Rider?

It's impossible now, but I'd have liked to see a Hercules story by Gary Frank. Silver Sable, I've never liked. A Black Knight story would indeed rock, especially after seeing what Tom Grummet can do with the character.

Maybe MCP can be the place Butch Guice can do a short Iron Fist story.

Maybe some villains?

Doom
Doc Ock
Tiger Shark
Fin Fang Foom
The Wrecking Crew (there was an issue of Thor where the four of them hung out and terrorized a McDonald's that was pretty cool)

Other (slightly) obscure characters/heroes:

Damage Control
Two Gun Kid
The Prowler
Werewolf By Night
The Darkhold Redeemers

I would kill to see:

The Black Knight (Dane Whitman this time; Sir Percy's cool, but Dane's my favorite Black Knight)
Stories of Tarene in the Initiative (since she seems to just be a bit player for Slott's stories in A:TI itself)
Beta Ray Bill
Valkyrie (whenever she's resurrected, I guess)
Prodigy
Sersi (hopefully reacquainting herself with her powers)
A comedy featuring the Damage Control characters from their mini-series, who I understand are still good even though their company dealt MGH to villains
Count Nefaria
The Shocker
Exodus (preferably with the Black Knight)
Hercules
Some of the other pantheons of Earth
Thor's Recorder buddy
The High Evolutionary

I'm sure I'll think of others.

Did they ever catch all those Raft escapees?
