Guys, guys, guys, come on now, let's just agree spider-man sucks all over and leave it at that.

Also, Spider-Man is an Avenger......and he sucks so, you know.....deal with it. :o

But yet you're a fan of Bendis' Avengers where he constantly makes him out to be a wet behind the ears rookie.....

Oh, I'll be the first to criticize Bendis's handling of Spider-Man. However, the difference liesin that everyone criticizes Bendis's handling of Spider-Man. Very few criticize Slott's handling of Spider-Man when they're honestly very close to one another.

Also, New Avengers has a lot of other characters to bounce off of to help overshadow how Spider-Man is written. In ASM, Slott's depiction is on nearly every page every panel and the focus of the entire story. I don't like it in Avengers but there's enough to let me overlook it. When it pretty much defines the story in ASM, there's nothing else there to hold me to the book.

Get with the times. Supes is awesome. Spidey? Not so much. Kind of a whiney *****e.

Nah, he just waited for the next reboot. Didn't sell it to the devil like their love was a pair of discount socks. :o

Well maybe that will help him finally crack the top 40 in sales. :o

But you said I should get with the times, by that you must mean 1983, the last time Supes was able to produce a box office hit. :o

Superman is still married, isn't he? Oh, wait......:o

That's right he made a deal with satan to get rid of that to bring back ma kent right? That's how that story went. It isn't like they at least had the decency of making the matter not his decision. Nope superman went to satan and said "take my wife" (god there's a rodney dangerfield joke in there) and give me back my dying mother in a way that she would never approve of and be horrified at the prospect of even considering for a moment.

Get with the times. Supes is awesome. Spidey? Not so much. Kind of a whiney *****e.

I'm hip.

At this precise moment in time, I'd say Supes sucks more than Spidey. I mean... Grounded. Nuff said. At least ASM has been pretty decent for the last few years. Superman? Well he's completely irrelevent thanks to Mr Johns' love for GL, and he's had one of the worst runs ever.

But anyway, Bendis is **** at writing every one on Avengers.

He was surprisingly good to Thor for the first few issues. Did he keep that up, or did Thor start getting knocked the f*** out every issue like he usually does when he's on the Avengers for extended periods.

I think Thor's done alright but he hasn't hogged the spotlight or anything. The only person on the team that I feel Bendis handles horribly is Spider-Man.

Well maybe that will help him finally crack the top 40 in sales. :o

Yeah well, s**t floats. :fhm:

Again, ... no.

Slott is way better than Bendis, so is Parker, Remender and Gillen for that matter.

HAMMER attacks!

Questions:

1). Is that new Goliath Tom Foster, or did Bendis revive Bill?

2). Why do D-Man and Captain Ultra hate the Avengers enough to stage a raid on their mansion? D-Man has mental illness, but was usually very chummy with Rogers and the Avengers staff. Captain Ultra was chummy with Iron Man during THE INITIATIVE era. If Capt. Ultra was totally fine with Iron Man when he was at his most corrupt and storm-trooper-ish, why would he seek to stage a raid now? While I'm at it, Devil-Slayer was a perfectly stable member of the Initiative during Secret Invasion, and as a longtime Defender teamed with Dr. Strange a lot. Again, why the hate?

3). If Wonder Man's beef with the New Avengers, that these other fellows share, is that they're not pro-active enough with containing dangerous threats, what point is there in smashing into their Mansion and beating them up? Does Simon seriously consider being negligent (at worst) the same as being an A.I.M. cell? That's like if a neighborhood felt cops weren't doing their job properly enough, so they decided to organize, lead a frontal assault upon their nearest precinct and, what, occupy it by force or prove they could overpower the officers there? It makes no sense! In fact, half the reason the Avengers miss **** is because they're bickering or being distracted! Isn't this raid just doing more of that? They could miss an attack by Ultron while Simon and his pity party are smashing walls, man!

4). At what point did Wonder Man, a character who thought it was a good idea to commit white collar fraud for which he was jailed for, and then trusted BARON ZEMO with a revenge scheme, who then went on to redeem himself no end of times, decide the Avengers were bad? Is the ion radiation poisoning him or is this more odd storytelling? I've seen Deathstroke The Terminator show more respect for the Teen Titans at certain points.

On a personal note, I love how Bendis dusts off Ethan Edwards and, by god, Century, for things that seem awkward for them. Edwards left to be a healer, and now he's back and eager for violence. Century hasn't been seen since FORCE WORKS ended. He'd have made a fine addition to the various cosmic stories, especially since DnA technically created him, but now he's filling out the ranks of an aimless brawl. Such is the fate of obscure characters. What, was Blue Shield busy?

I can buy Anti-Venom and Atlas being there, at least. The former's crazy and the latter used to fight the Avengers all the time on the MOE or Thunderbolts. I imagine he sees this as something for ol' time's sake.

I just had an argument with JewishHobbit about Bendis on NEW AVENGERS, and I don't think I've criticized anything more than this preview, which I've read and felt I can thus judge. But, when I see previews like this, it doesn't convince me that I made a bad choice ditching his titles in '08. Just because D-Man, Century, Devil-Slayer or Capt. Ultra are here to fill out the ranks doesn't mean that I feel they should be written in an awkward manner. I imagine someone who read THUNDERBOLTS may grouse about Atlas being there, but I wouldn't know. Because unless I missed some very epic stories, it seems to me that quite a few characters are being written out of character. As in "are they being possessed by Purple Man?" out of character.
