Damn, Lee Weeks on Spider-Man? Between Marcos Martin, John Romita, Jr., and now Lee Weeks, people who can still stomach ASM are getting some great art, at the very least.
Still not a huge fan of how TV and movie terminology are slowly creeping into comics. First Millar is described as a "widescreen" and "cinematic" writer, then Ultimates got "seasons," now Liz Allen is a "series regular"? It always makes me feel like comics are somehow inferior to other forms of entertainment when they have to try and co-opt their descriptors.
Ew, I kinda retched a little at that Amazing Spider-Girl cover. I'm a little behind on this Brand New May stuff, though, so I don't know. Maybe it's the clone of May? I hope.
That Blue Marvel comic looks like the Sentry all over again, but I found it kind of funny that his villain is called "the Anti-Man." Where I'm originally from, "anti-man" is slang for a gay dude.
Captain America sounds great. Here's hoping Bucky doesn't find out that Toro is mysteriously alive, though. Brubaker managed a great Golden Ager resurrection with Bucky himself, but I wouldn't want him to push his luck with another.
I wish I were interested in what Marvel's doing with Dan Ketch. But after seeing where Aaron's brought him in Ghost Rider and reading some comments likening Ketch without the Ghost Rider to a druggie without a fix, I'm just... not. I'm glad Saltares ditched the little coattails he put on the back of the jacket on Ketch's redesigned GR, though.
I was with the Immortal Iron Fist solicit until the words "Robo Fat Cobra" insinuated themselves into the mix. Um... we'll see how that goes, I guess.
Holy s***, a whole giant-sized one-shot dedicated to Skurge, the Executioner? It's like Christmas in Decemb... wait, that doesn't work. It's still f***ing awesome, though. I hope Hela shows up in something other than a flashback, too. It's been too long since she's bugged Thor, and tarnishing Skurge's reputation in the Asgardians' memories is totally something she'd do.
Punisher: War Zone sounds good. I haven't read any Punisher in a while; it'll be nice to get back to the character, especially with Ennis writing.
Kind of a shame that the "omg Doom with Infinity Gauntlet!!" cover turned out to just be a What If, but at least it sounds like a damn fine What If.
Incognito sounds cool. I wasn't too taken with Criminal, but I like Brubaker and I like Phillips, so I'll give Incognito a shot.
Whoo, finally, another Juggernaut appearance since World War Hulk! And he'll be hanging out with Charles, too. It's almost worth reading the ******ed crossover with Wolverine: Origins to get to it. But not quite, 'cause I won't be reading that, of course. I'm dropping Legacy for those two months.
Giuseppe Camuncoli's drawing X-Infernus. If only I gave a damn about Magik or Inferno or Limbo or any of that lame s*** that ran through New Mutants for such a depressingly long time.
Huh, an X-Force/Ghost Rider crossover? That's a weird combination.
Okay, seriously, I like everything else in the Captain Britain solicitation, but why does Cornell insist on making Dane the damsel in distress every arc?
Wow. It's really hard to recall that M used to be black looking at that X-Factor cover. Still, Valentine De Landro is the artist for this issue and, much more importantly, Larry Stroman's
not! Maybe someone at Marvel loves X-Factor after all.
Haha, it's funny that Sabretooth's on that cover flashing back to Logan's last battle as Wolverine. Hopefully, everyone else takes a cue from that cover and forgets that awful Loeb "death" scene ever occurred, and Wolverine's ******ed magic sword while they're at it.
Manifest Destiny looks like more Carey X-Men greatness. I like how Marvel's allowing him to deal with many of the less popular mutants who may not get much of a spotlight in Uncanny. It creates a nice balance and gives people who are totally uninterested in Brubaker and Fraction's story--like me--an alternative so we can continue enjoying the X-Men in spite of that. If only Brubaker and Fraction would loosen their grip on Beast...
Speaking of X-Men projects I'm not interested in, there's X-Men Noir. I
should be interested. I like the X-Men and I
love noir stuff. But the idea of the X-Men being placed in an alternaverse '30s setting and acting like hard-boiled gumshoes just doesn't grab me. Cyclops holding a gun while his eyes are burning red
right next to it on that cover looks especially ludicrous to me.
X-Men/Spider-Man looks like fun. I'll permit myself to dip my toe back into the Spider-pool, as it were, for that. It seems to be covering past events anyway, so hopefully they'll be past events that remain unchanged by OMD's f***wittery.
Oh man, Dustin Weaver's drawing Kingbreaker? He was great at epic space stuff on Knights of the Old Republic. I almost want to read that for him. I'll hold off until the actual War of Kings crossover, though. The less I have to subject myself to Vulcan, the better.
