I'm excited that Marvel will now be under complete control over their production of their films.

After having seen the train wreck that was X-men: The last Stand, it's clear that Marvel must have complete control over their franchise.

Most of the misakes in that movie were due to the pressures of the studio, pushing to make the release dates, and pushing a bad script on the directors.

Marvel will basicially have the same deal with Paramount that Lucasfilm LTD had with Fox. IOW, there's no way the studio can interfere with the production costs of the film.

In a way the first two Superman movies were made under that situation, even though Warner had always owned DC comics. Superman I and II were filmed as "negative pickups", meaning the financing of the film was done totally independant of the movie studio. Warner only paid for the distribution after the finished product was made.

Hahahahahahahahaha. The latest X-Men film was great. And does Marvel really need complete control over their movies?

Last time I checked Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, the Blade trilogy, Punisher, Fantastic Four and the X-Men trilogy were all great movies.

While I'm sure Marvels increased control over their films is something to be excited about, it absolutely doesn't mean that Marvels previous films have been anything less than great. There have been a few stinkers but the track record is still good.

As a stand alone movie, X3 was great. As a comic book adaptation, it couldn't have been worse. The characters shown on screen were not the X-men characters i've been reading for years. Professor X giving up on Cyclops and telling Storm he wants her to lead the school was the biggest slap in the face to Professor X and Cyclops' characters :down and that was just the beginning.

I'm hoping to see X3 this weekend.

Spider-man, and Spider-Man 2 have both been major blockbusters.

however, to support Stark's assertion I offer the following evidence: The Hulk, Elektra, DareDevil.

I tend to find something I like in almost all the comic movies.

Of course I'm resigned to never seeing the comic on screen as such I just like nice scenes involving the characters (ie dd not great, but loved seeing dd on the cross like in the comic book and so on)

Oh, hey, how about a spoiler tag?

What about Captain America, Nick Fury and the Punisher?

None of the X-films are particularly faithful "adaptations", you know:)

wee they do call it a movie adeptation 4 a reason u no

X-Men the Last Stand was an okay movie. But damn, so many things about it pissed me off. If I were an avid X-Men reader, I bet that I would completely hate the movie.

Since 1998, 10 of the 13 Marvel movies have topped the box office: Blade, X-Men, Blade II, Spider-Man, Daredevil, X2, Hulk, Spider-Man 2, Fantastic Four and now X-Men: The Last Stand.

so the bad ones must of been punisher, Elektra and ????

Thank god. Marvel really needs this, I think. I mean, what harm could it do?
