I'm excited that Marvel will now be under complete control over their production of their films.
After having seen the train wreck that was X-men: The last Stand, it's clear that Marvel must have complete control over their franchise.
Most of the misakes in that movie were due to the pressures of the studio, pushing to make the release dates, and pushing a bad script on the directors.
Marvel will basicially have the same deal with Paramount that Lucasfilm LTD had with Fox. IOW, there's no way the studio can interfere with the production costs of the film.
In a way the first two Superman movies were made under that situation, even though Warner had always owned DC comics. Superman I and II were filmed as "negative pickups", meaning the financing of the film was done totally independant of the movie studio. Warner only paid for the distribution after the finished product was made.
