Anyone else collect these? I bought the base set for the 2008 series for $30 and I just got my hands on a sealed set of 1993 ones for $100.

I'm looking to collect all the series I can, but I was on ebay just now, and my God, I'm completely overwhelmed by how many different sets there are.

Does anyone have a list or something that could tell me how many are out there?

You talkin about these?

I got the series in 93 when they came out. I got 'em in a box somewhere. They're pretty cool. I think they're all painted by Joe Jusko.
You're on your own as far a list though. Sorry

God I want collect all the older sets. The new for some reason doesn't appeal to me.

The older ones were the best! This was by far my favorite set. from 91, I think?

i had some of those...i don't remember what year they were though.

Spider-Jay, yes I'm referring to those. Do you have any others?

Not very many. I was only into the cards for a minute. I have the Masterworks, the 91 series above, and the 90 series too.

Thats about it for me...

I got the latest two Masterpieces off Ebay, and I gotta say I'm severely disappointed in 'em. The 2007 set, they reused too many previous images. And the 2008 set, they reused fewer, but they had a couple cards that weren't even the characters they were supposed to depict! Not to mention the art ain't nuttin' spectacular. Did quality control fall asleep at the wheel here or what?

yeah, well old ones... but honestly i thought the card companies have taken a major dive over the last 10 years.. trading cards just arn't nearly as popular anymore, (other then game cards)

I typically don't collect cards, but when Iron Man hit theaters, I bought 2 box's of the movie cards from Rittenhouse as well as a Iron man binder, I didn't get very many special feature cards, like Autograph, Costume cards, Scetch cards etc, bought several of those off of ebay, the Robert Downey Jr autograph card goes for on average over $350 per card, way out of my price range.
So, I started buying any card that had to do with Iron Man and his universe, allies, villians, etc., so I don't have a lot of Masterpeice cards, but do have all of the Iron Man versions as well as War Machine, Scarlett Witch, Ms. Marvel, Mandarin etc.

I collected cards before they became $3.50 a pack fer FIVE. Now I'm just filling in gaps in my collection on Ebay.

thats why i stopped collecting hero clix too.. there not worth the money, esp when your just missing a handful and doing nothing but getting repeats forking over cash, wasting it on each box.

I've just recently discovered all my old card sets that were stored away. I was kind of surprised there was a thread in here about them haha. I've got the '92 set on my hard drive now.

All painted by Joe Jusko, he's amazing.

I can post the whole set if there's interest for it.

not the whole set, I would like to see Spidey though....

Wow this thread takes me back, I remember buying the Fleer 1995 Marvel Masterpieces cards that featured paintings of every character in the Marvel U as done by the Hilderbrandt brothers. They were amazing and I remember them being really expensive even by today's standards. Loved hunting down those limited editions. There was nothing quite like opening and pack and finding you'd a chase card in there, at least when you were fourteen.

That's coz they did. The market just wasn't there which is a damn shame b/c Fleer Ultra SM and X-Men cards were so freaking sweet. Now eBay is all that's left.
