If I get into beta I'll test the game as the developers intend. My questions though were referring to the open release product...just kind of curious what characters people favor

Oh, No ,no, it's fine to ask that I'm just reminding others. cause some people loose track of what private beta is and seem to think it is a demo for some reason when they should be look for problem in something this. in reality it's both for private beta your testing and having fun but don't put one over the other. well I'm sure the dev's want to see what works and what they'll take out and put back for later. that doesn't mean no one should have fun though. just report and that looks out of place or miht effect the game and it'll fine for release day.

Anyone know if the producers of this game are going to be revealing any new characters anytime soon? Have the prior reveals been at regular intervals or have they been somewhat inconsistent?

There's no real pattern you have to keep an eye in their twitter and face book at times . they some time make an announcement when DCUO does after the latter has done so.

As I said random

Superhero fans have another reason to look forward to the end of winter besides a break from the cold and snow: Come spring, they will be able to to adventure as their favorite caped -- or non-caped -- crusaders in the free-to-play action RPG Marvel Heroes. To help fans get ready for the upcoming launch, Gazillion Entertainment has announced a program offering players special limited-edition packs that include unique costumes, access to favorite heroes, early game access, and even in-game currency to buy more once the game releases.

This Founders Program offers three tiers for purchase. Fans can choose the starter pack with one hero of their choice for $19.99 USD, the premium pack with a team of four preselected heroes for $59.99, or the ultimate pack that includes all heroes and all costumes for $199.99. Each pack also includes XP boosts, item-find boosts, in-game currency, and early access time, although the specific amounts vary per tier.

For more details and a look at all the different costumes available, including newly announced outfits and exclusive ones, check out the gallery below.

Wow, $60 for 4 preselected heroes is a lot...if I could create my own 4-pack then maybe but there are none of those producer-chosen packs where I would want all 4 of their character selections either. $200 for all characters is also expensive and takes some of the fun of recovering the character unlocks through play also.... this makes me wonder a few things:

1) How much will individual characters costs when the game is launched? I was guessing about $5 but, w/ $20 for one pre-selected character, now I'm worried.

2) How often will players actually recover/unlock new characters through play? On the one hand they expect to make money so they probably want this to be as rare as they can possibly get away with....on the other hand, if they want people to keep playing then it's got to happen enough to keep people interested.

3) If I do buy the $20 or $60 pack, do I still get an additional 4 or 5 random characters at launch?

I had some questions answered looking at a newly updated FAQ page: link

Points of note:
You only get one free character at launch (you may be able to recover more in the game itself as drops). You start the free version of the game being able to choose one of: Daredevil, Storm, Thing, Hawkeye or Scarlet Witch

Deadpool looks to be rare, probably will have to buy him if you want him.

Ultimate pack includes the 26 currently announced characters and likely no more character announcements. I might be wrong on this b/c it doesn't explicitly say "no more character announcements" but it does say that 4 of the currently announces characters won't be ready at launch...to me this means that they are working on what they've got and anything else will be added later.

Again though the names of characters are examples and might not be the ones in you hands at launch when you start up. Alot of what is said is always subject to change. Other then that yeah the rest of what they said keep it in all mind, til they say otherwise.

this is from the site the starter packs the cheapest

If they want to change the initial character selection then they basically have to make it so the consumer pics one from a random selection. They can't really change the initial selection to many other groups of the announced characters w/out negative backlash.... they have already started selling initial character packs to consumers who are probably going to buy them on the premise that they won't otherwise have a chance to get their character of choice at launch.

actually no it's more like they are letting people have feel the game. they didn't really set all that and that will most like be set as final the day of launch or with in the month set for it . right now they are only words of example. As in it may happen that way and it may not. but I agree with the initial part of what you said .

Oh wait strike that. I was thinking of some thing else. sorry. Any way the ones in the packs they set up are set in stone though so no worries ether way.

I was under the impression that you start with a small number of heroes and could unlock ALL remaining characters in the game with the option to buy if you want(or are impatient)

they said you still can do that . it was the starting roster of who you pick up in that, that I was debating just now.

Those packs mentioned are just if you buy who you want to buy, when it all starts you don't have go through all that. So it's like you just said . you have those options and the packs are an option as well at launch after that deal is over and it's what you said as your options.

There are 10 remaining character spots on the official web-site. I read the FAQ page as saying that, if they add more characters between now and launch, those additional characters will not be included in your purchase if you pay the $200 for the Ultimate Pack:

"The Ultimate Pack is our best value Founders Pack, giving you access to nearly ALL COSTUMES AND HEROES in Marvel Heroes at launch, as well as four exclusive costumes. As 26 heroes had been announced before Founders Programs began, after the launch of Marvel Heroes, having an Ultimate Pack on your account will grant you all 26 announced heroes. It is possible that four of those heroes will be post-launch heroes, specifically Luke Cage, Emma Frost, Squirrel Girl and Nova. These Heroes will be added to your account automatically as they are released. Beyond this point, when future heroes and costumes are added to Marvel Heroes, they will be available to you as an optional purchase, or as a random drop in-game." [emphasis added]

I don't know if they are going to add more characters between now and launch but, if they do, it seems stingy to not let the people that buy the very expensive Ultimate pack not have those characters too. Personally, I would want Invisible Woman on my playable roster...I would be very upset if she appeared b/f launch as a playable character and I had paid the $200 only to find I now have to pay more for her.

Edit: The promo art for the Ultimate pack reads ALL characters and costumes available at launch. There is clearly a difference in the FAQ page that warrants some clarification from the producers.

hold off on this for now. until your in the beta and more details are out. that something for DB to answer.

I don't think I will get any of the packs, unless I become really frustrated because I can't unlock a certain character.

Yeah, I'm sure a handful of them will play similarly anyway. Like in XML and Ultimate Alliance

The starter pack (which is the first) is like 20 $ well that's mostlikely in north america. it is the cheapest. but as I said hold off till more info's out.

I'm thinking about getting one of the $20 packs and then trying to unlock/recover others but I'm torn on characters. I know I'm going to be using my first character for a long time while I unlock others. My problem is that I like so many of them it's hard to pick one to commit to.

I was going to go Spider-Man but I'm still kind of pissed off about his recent treatment by Marvel (losing his marriage and now being Spider-Octopus). I don't want to play someone who makes me think angry thoughts so I'm going to move on. I'm thinking Iron Man right now.

Anyone else know who they are going to start this game as?

That was more to do with joe Q and the newer up coming writers not knowing how to write relationships of any one that is married which joe Q admitted to and said they don't know or want to do that any more as a result captain Britain cyclops long shot and spidey 's marriages were destroyed cause from what joe q said what appeal to him more was when those characters were bachelors and were running around hooking with alot of women instead of actin like real people people that you and I relate to. lol male ho's. cause he had that image of what James bond used to be too. but bond was married twice and wanted to be that. an there's that thing Matt daemon said about Jason borne being a certain type of man to that isn't some ne that goes from woman to woman. in other words it Joe Q and other mid life crisis people living vicariously by making sure they got rid of what made part of what made the MU relate able to us by making those men human.

he was voted against in comic book pole. but did what he wanted. and so we have spidey hooking up with any woman the latest writer feels like these days same goes for any one character that isn't reed Richards. or will eventually.

Probably Hawkeye. I want to play the game first before I spend any money on starter packs.

I'd love for this to be playable with a pc controller. And anyone know if this will be released on a hard disc?

I'm sure it'll be the same deal as what happened with DCUO there. so that Retailers like Game stop/ EB Game will make profit it'll be a disce especilly so people can join on the open beta. And after two years it it'll places like steam that have mostly. if they haven't done the version for consoles as Mr. Bravik mentioned they have plans for once but not right now. .

Just found this on their face book page
