Should have been, "Disney needs to buy the rights to DC, WB comic films".

Imagine that. Star Wars, DC and Marvel under one roof.

Marvel needs to buy the rights to Batman, yes. Chris Nolan, too.

lol, now this is an enticing thought.

although they are rivals, I am pretty sure these companies respect each others' works, and they've done crossovers to prove it.

as far as cinematics go, an announced non-canon film joint venture with warner bros and disney would be pretty fantastic. and it wouldn't be unheard of... who framed roger rabbits, anyone?

I just imagine Marvel execs coming into that meeting and being all "Name your price!"

They just look at them really confused.

Old topic I know, but I get this vibe from people a lot, that they think Batman is too good for DC. What these geniuses don't seem to realizes is Batman's followed mostly the same evolutionary path as Superman. Both began as merciless vigilantes who intimidated criminals with violence and even killed a few at times, showing no remorse. A few years later, both were toned down and written as boyscouts(Adam West's portrayal of Batman really wasn't so off the mark). They even had modernizations in the late 60s/early 70s both done by Dennis O'Neill, although Superman's revamp wasn't quite as popular with other Superman writers, but Superman comics remained grounded compared to the silver age. Both were once again modernized in the 80s, Batman became angry and brooding, while more emphasis was placed on the human side of Superman and he was powered down considerably.

For some reason, the general public and certain Marvel fanboys never seemed to be aware of the changes made to Superman and continued to think the planet mover who was incapable of making mistakes was still in vogue. These people are myopic because they only ever focus on Batman and perceive the rest of the DCU as if it were like an episode of Superfriends.

The world's greatest detective no longer part of Detective Comics? Dumb idea.

Considering that this idea is purely a fantasy-there is no way in hell that WB would sell one of their most lucrative franchises-it could work. They could launch some nice mags that have Batman involved with some of the non-powered street level enforces of Marvel (such as Daredevil.) From the sheer fanboy perspective, it would be awesome seeing Batman beating the snot out of A.I.M. goons.
