- Grevioux's ADAM: LEGEND OF THE BLUE MARVEL seems a bit bizarre. I am growing a bit tired of new characters needing retcons to gain weight, as this advert seems to imply. The last Marvel character named "Blue Marvel" was some Infinity Gauntlet created clone of Quasar who ran around from 1991-1992. Grevioux lays out ideas in a CBR interview here:

I scimmed it but it basically boils down to Blue Marvel being a new character, who is, sigh, yet another "black hero who was buried down for some reason". Like a more mainstream version of RED, WHITE, AND BLACK. Whether that is something someone is interested in is another story. Me? I prefer characters who don't need retcons to launch from. But I like Grevioux on NEW WARRIORS, so I may give it a shot.
- The AVENGERS: INITIATIVE ANNUAL #2 looks good. The only downside is Steve Uy, who isn't bad but is the worst of the 3 artists that have been on A:TI. But it will be good to see characters from the first "class" followed up on.
- Wow...I look at the costume for House of M Captain Buckmerica, and I think someone liked Comedian's costume in WATCHMEN too much.
- GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #7 has Bug on the cover, finally getting him into the book, perhaps to help find the missing Starlord. This book has been a treat, and naturally I look forward to it.
- Maybe the covers to CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI-13 aren't shown because they're not drawn yet. After all, Bryan Hitch has usually been drawing them, and his alter ego is "The slowest artist alive".
At least it isn't grouped with the X-books this time. Logic prevails! Joe Q musta been asleep!
- Anyone surprised that Bendis would use his Avengers titles for SECRET INVASION aftermath...nope? Good. Yeah, hopefully the ending won't stink...TOO much.
- The NEW AVENGERS story promises a tale of Luke Cage...so the cover features Hawkeye. Yeah, makes complete sense.
- Frankly, while I am one of the few still enjoying NEW WARRIORS, I am somewhat surprised to see issue #18 solicted, although it isn't mentioned as being a chapter to a story. For all we know it could be an end. NEW WARRIORS sold at #104 in June at barely under 21k, and sales continue to fall 3-7% per issue. Marvel will not allow it to linger much longer. Still, considering many naysayers doubted this volume would outlast the last NW ongoing (which made it a year), 18 issues isn't bad. Unless Marvel expects a major boost from the SI issues to linger, I can't understand why they would keep the book around, unless they either want to support the franchise or see Grevioux as a breakout talent. But, I like the book, so the more issues, the merrier.
- Nova-Corps in NOVA #19? I wonder if this means Worldmind isn't coming back after all? Plus, anyone spot the Shi'ar on the cover? Maybe a bit of a prelude to the WAR OF KINGS or whatever the thing is called with Black Bolt and Vulcan. I normally can't stand the Shi'ar, but the space books are where they belong, so it would make sense for Nova to run into a few.
- The cover to SECRET INVASION #8 seems to imply that Wolverine replaces Iron Man in the "trinity". Considering I can't imagine New Cap or Thor siding with the Pro-SHRA Mighty Avengers, I suppose it makes sense. Still, hopefully that doesn't mean SECRET INVASION will have another 2 issues of middling before Thor and Buck do something. And hopefully the ending won't consist of Thor instantly solving the problem in 1 panel (which doesn't involve smashing), then talking for 17 pages about how useless the rest of the heroes are (while sounding like a common pedestrian, using words like "yeah" or "stuff") and then everyone sort of looks around with a WTF look. Y'know, like SECRET WAR, DISASSEMBLED, HOUSE OF M....
- Wait wait wait...there is a WOLVERINE FIRST CLASS and a WEAPON X FIRST CLASS? I take back the logic comment. Redundancy...thy name is Marvel.
