I live in Canada, where we have a whole province of French speaking people, I have seen them on TV and worked with them, I have never seen any French Canadian incert random French words into an English conversation, if a French speaker would laspe into his or her native they would do it completely and start speaking French, not incerting random French words in English conversation. Some Canadian politicans have trouble with English, but I have never heard any of them talk like Batroc.

I man if there was Japanese merc and he spoke a sterotypical Japanese accent, confusing Rs and Ls would people take him seriously?

I'm sure you must have heard at least one random tabarnac! inserted at some point in an english conversation with a french canadian .

look back to marvel premiere 20 starring iron fist. when i started reading it i was like wow the master of french kickboxing? thats cool. and then between the accent and the flamboyant costume i kinda lost interest. but he almost defeated my hero the immortal iron fist so i have respect for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did insert alot of French words into English conversation if he can't speak English very well but is trying to anyway.

I still don't see why people have this compulsive need to see Batroc being taken seriously. That's the fun of the character. He isn't to be taken serious. He can still be a badass though.

Well, there's a difference between being a completely serious character and being taken seriously. He can still be an arrogant, high class, cheesy, old fasioned French guy and be taken as a serious threat.

this is true. i mean the freaking porcupine is always being serious but that doesnt mean people take him seriously. the joker is always joking but everyone takes him seriously. he doesnt have to become dark and serious to be treated seriously. his character just shouldnt be such a joke anymore.

For my money, there are far better villians worthy of an upgrade in status than Batroc. Shocker? Hydro-Man? Graviton? Count Nefaria? Why a guy who at best is a really good kickboxer? Martial artists are a dime a dozen in the MU.

But he's free to try.

If I named any French people who talk like that, you could easily say I made them up as you wouldn't have known them. Anyway, I'm not singling out French people. I'm saying that anyone who's not very familiar with a foreign language will probably end up inserting alot ofd words from their native language.
