Born Again Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again General Discussion Thread

Glad to see that. Should put a few people’s worries to rest.

No Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa. No Elden Henson as Foggy. No Deborah Ann Woll as Karen. What is the point of this show?[/QUOTE said:

If Disney didn't even ask the original actors to reprise the roles and they're all recast it's completely idiotic and baffling at the same time. They were all spot on for the parts.

Oh its either just a recast or NetfliX Marvel was set in another universe.

Anyway, as long as they don't recast Luke, Iron Fist, Jessica, Colleen, Misty, Elektra, Purple Man and Hellcat, these recasts aren't really noticeable especially for those who haven't seen any Marvel shows.

I'll admit this is probably the first decision they have made that's making give them the side eye. I really liked Ayelet Zurer in the role and from a quick IMDB search, she isn't working on anything at the moment. Kind of a shame.

I had a feeling she was playing a recast Vanessa Fisk so at least it’s confirmed.

Now I’m getting concerned that Foggy & Karen will get recast. And if that’s the case then WTF?! :argh:

Not too happy with the recasts.

I hope DD gets a better costume though instead of still using the Netflix one he had even if a different colour.

To be fair, her not returning doesn't have to be due to other projects. It could also mean she didn't want to return for other reasons. Sometimes it's simply because they have other stuff going on in their personal life. There have been plenty of cases where an actor didn't return for something because they wanted to take a break from working, spend time with family, because they had or were going to have a baby, because they had to deal with a disease, because moving closer to the filming location for an extended period of time didn't work for them, etc. We don't know what the reason is.

If that were the case she wouldn't have said she hasn't been asked back and she wouldn't indicate that she does want to return. Who says that they do want to return when they don't?

When did she say this? I haven't heard anyone talking about this. AFAIK all we know is that THR said "Other actors on the call sheet include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt, the latter of whom is playing Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Fisk." and nothing more.

He was referring to Ayelet Zurer, not Deborah Ann Woll.

I have regrettably only seen part of the first season despite being a big fan of the character so I don't have much stake in this but this whole situation must suck bad for fans of the show right? It's really cool to see Cox and D'Onofrio again but does it... actually matter if they're not really the same characters and the shows story isn't really continuing? If they're just variants with the same faces?

The Netflix shows continuity doesn't line up that well with the MCU but... who cares? Just be vague? It's okay for contradictions and continuity to be a little loose sometimes? I know that isn't how the MCU operates but it still feels weird to make a big deal about bringing back a beloved series and seemingly robbing it of everything people were invested in beyond the actors. To avoid it being burdened with continuity and so they can do... maybe a new Bullseye and a new Elektra, I guess?

Yep! I called it as soon as she was cast. It's almost a certainty now.

Maybe she won't even be called Karen but just KP and it will stand for something else like it was for MJ in MCU Spider-Man.

This might not fit within Born Again per se, but I think especially if we get another Punisher show it could have an element where Frank goes after cops that misuse his symbol, that got away with police brutality, ruined innocent peoples' lives, etc. After all, cops misusing their power isn't much different from what military guys like Russo, Rawlins, and Schoonover were doing and they were the whole reason he became the Punisher in the first place. Though it would be hard of course to really go into systemic issues beyond "bad cops" with a character like the Punisher. Maybe hiring some of the writers that worked on "We Own This City" with Bernthal might be a good idea for that? I heard that that show is one of the best when it comes to tackling issues with US police forces.

Suuuurrrreeee.....

Have we been provided a reason Vanessa was recast? Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. If it is a situation like that, then I am okay with the recasting. If they did it for the hell of it, less okay.

I would rather Foggy and Karen not be in the show at all than played by different actors. At least that would afford them the opportunity to be added later down the line.

I was watching The Cosmic Wonder on YouTube and he said a reliable source said the recasting had to do with a scheduling conflict.

I can't say for certain if it's true, but could be a likely reason.

I've been thinking that if Karen and Foggy aren't in this, it could be a nice little post credits scene of them showing up and setting up a possible Season 2 or a possible movie/special if they go that route. Could get people more excited for a possible season 2.
