Meh. This doesn’t absolve the first season from everything that dragged it down from the Netflix show’s ending, though. Season 1 could’ve/should've and would’ve been way better, if they had done more reshoots and more scrapping.

It is based on the premise that we can do it better than the Netflix crew when everything Disney did for TV was worse. To the point that the reshoots where ordered and the half Frankenseason of Born Again was aired

Exactly. Now I’m sure the next season will be an improvement (also it’s a low bar to come up from) but that still means we had a whole frankenseason before that.

Even season 2 of the original show was better because at least it was consistent.

Yeah I'm not all in on the fan theory, yet also don't automatically believe everything the actors are putting out there, they have stories to tell.
In the comic story being referenced, Matt believed Foggy was dead, true he never heard his heart stop, the way he did on the show so they were able to bring him back. Still there are ways they could have faked that, where Matt was convinced it was true.

The comic featuring the story titled "The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson."- Where Foggy fakes his death and goes into witness protection.

A recurring theme is Matt going "dark" (now literally) without Foggy to ground him to the more personal, human and legal aspect they serve.
Without foggy, Matt gives up on that side, and becomes only vigilante justice.
So who is the one guy who can walk him back from that.

On the other hand they've been there, and could just as well have used the death for stunt shock-&-awe and have in fact callously moved on.

With actual actors who do age out trying to go the reboot route with Foggy and others in an universe which has not rebooted is a daunting task. The son of the Black Panther about to hit his teenage years is one of the few set up to roll over to when a massive invasion of mutants hit the MCU
