JUST ANNOUNCED: D23 Expo Marvel News You’ll Love 3,000 - D23

I am most curious if D23 is where we find out of the statuses of Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd and Don Cheadle in the MCU. Was End Game the finale for Ruffalo and Cheadle like it is for Evans and RDJ? Or is there more for them to tell in the MCU? As for Rudd, I would like to see another Ant Man movie but with Cassie as a teenager.

I really don't know what to expect here. Since they went all in on Disney+ at comic-con. Some folks on twitter are teasing a possible Deadpool announcement. Idk about that would be kinda weird if Deadpool is staying r-rated to announce it at D23. But it would be awesome to get the 2022/2023 movies confirmed. Even though I doubt it. D23 is a Disney event so I don't see Sony announcing Spider-Man there though I could be wrong. Maybe they announce it together.

I really don't expect much. I think what they gave us at SDCC is everything they're willing to share right now. Plus there's a little Disney owned franchise called Star Wars that has a TV series and movie coming out this year and I really think they want to start building anticipation for that.

I am expecting the status of certain MCU actors like Rudd, Cheadle and Ruffalo to be clarified at D23. We pretty much know the status of most of the regulars except those three. RDJ and Evans are done, Scar Jo and Renner are finished after their various projects, Hemsworth has at least two more movies. Mackie, Cumberbatch, Bettany, Olsen, Stan, Thompson, Portman and Hiddleston are all coming back. Most of the Guardians will be back as will a large majority of the BP cast. Brie Larson is coming back as well.

Also hoping for the returns of Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor in Dr. Strange 2 to be announced at D23.

If they announce the Fantastic Four cast...

Ha if only! I feel pretty bad for them because they announced all this cool stuff for phase 4 and all we care about is phase 5.

But I guess that’s a good thing too. I’m just dying to see the FF. But of course I want them to do it right

They’re totally gonna reveal the MCU Fantastic Four.

Fingers crossed that this means more Agents of SHIELD content, maybe on Disney+, or at the very least some recognition from the MCU proper, maybe a few cameos in the final season, something like that.

I kinda imagine we may get more cast announcements for the Eternals and Black Widow. We may also see more for Shang-Chi and Thor.

Yeah I reckon. I kind of feel bad for phase 4. I feel like people are treating it like middle child. Or the jan Brady of marvel phases haha

I wonder how Phase 4 would have been received if Feige announced Phase 5 along side it. How would the hype for Phase 4 been then? He confirmed they debated doing as such but he figured 11 projects in 2 years was enough. Plus the Phase 5 movies are still in early in development somewhat. Coogler is scripting Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2 doesn't even have directors or script being worked on at least officially. Guardians 3 is on hold until James Gunn is done with Suicide Squad and FF and X-Men are super early in development. I think holding back Phase 5 was probably smart I doubt we would have gotten much beyond release dates and logos. So just doing Phase 4 was probably smart otherwise I think Phase 4 would have really gotten overshadowed if they officially confirmed FF & X-Men. The name drops for those franchises were enough.

I honestly think they will do a Doom film before they do a F4 film, which actually makes sense after the recent F4 movies. And I don't know why people are expecting the X-men to be put on the backburner. With Downey and Evans leaving, Marvel does need heavy hitters in their place. Wolverine and Storm are needed whether people realize it or not. Again, I may sound negative when I say this but I'm not sold on the Eternals and Black Widow. They need A+ name characters in each phase to keep the fans there and a Wolverine and Storm would do that. Why do I keep saying Storm? She fits that "diversity" push that Marvel and Disney seem obsessed with and she is a household name. Eh, but time will tell. Ending my drunk rant.

I fail to see why Marvel would do a Doom film before they do a proper FF movie. Now I wouldn’t fail to see why Fox(who used to own the rights) would do it since they were ultra desperate and were in danger of losing the rights to Marvel. Now that Marvel does have the rights they’re in a much better position to make a successful Fantastic Four film then Fox ever was. The reception of the prior Fantastic Four efforts is not going to make Marvel do a Doom film before an FF film, imo. Marvel has enough creative ability to be able to wash the bad taste of the previous films out of people’s mouths and it will be already be a long time enough since Fox’s last disaster for many to forget that debacle.

And I’m fairly certain Noah Hawley’s Doctor Doom film is never going to happen(at least not in the form it was going to have if it were still at Fox). If Feige does do something with Doom it will be long after the Fantastic Four team are introduced in the MCU and it will likely be a Disney Plus series that may or may not have Hawley involved. I just don’t think a movie is platform for a solo Doom film. Feige mentioned the Fantastic Four coming at Hall H not Doom so it’s obvious Marvel intends on introducing the Four first.

Rightfully so. I know a number of comic fans that don't even know Shang-Chi. And who gives a crap about the eternals, especially after the studio themselves apparently don't, screwing around with a bunch of the characters. The Disney+ shows are more interesting than half the movies they announced. Not to mention everyone I know is waiting for the FF and X-Men.

Well its including the tv shows and one... that is not even in live action.

This thread, lol. Some people are still doubting Marvel.

"Nobody cares about *insert D-list Marvel character*", "Thor will flop", "Ant-Man will flop", "Black Panther will flop, black movies don''t sell tickets", "Captain Marvel will flop, the end of Marvel", etc.

Remember when they announced Guardians of the Galaxy?

"Guardians of what? lol"
"Who's going to a movie with a talking raccoon and a walking tree?"
"Have they lost their minds? The movie will flop"
"Guardians of the Galaxy? Lmao. They really need the X-Men, F4 and Spider-Man"

Reminder:
- Guardians of the Galaxy was the third-highest grossing movie of 2014/highest-grossing superhero movie.
- The first Guardians movie almost outgrossed the three F4 movies combined.
- The first Guardians movie outgrossed the Amazing Spider-Man movies
- The first Guardians movie outgrossed Days of Future Past, the biggest X-Men movie.
- The first Guardians movie outgrossed the first Justice League movie.
- The first Guardians movie was more acclaimed than all those movies.
- The Guardians 1 soundtrack is one of the best-selling soundtracks of the decade.

They screwed around with the Guardians too.

Not Marvel Studios related, but I'm hoping they'll announce some X-Men animated series at D23.
