She-Hulk Marvel Studios' She-Hulk General Discussion Thread

I saw a fancast of Naomi Scott as She-Hulk, which seemed pretty cool. I kind of think she should be played by a really tall or muscular actress, though, just because it would be a cool opportunity for some body diversity in the MCU.
Also, there was one I saw of Paula Pell from Wine Country as the Blonde Phantom, which sounded like an awesome idea.

Any guesses who would be the villains in this. I'm not very familiar with Hulk's rogues gallery and I'm imagining that Marvel Studios would utilize 2 or 3 of them inthis show.

I definitely don't want to see Abomination again as he had the spotlight before as the lead villain.

They should use Leader and Abomination since chances are we will never see them in a movie ever.

Well Titania is sort of her archnemesis. But hey this would be the perfect time to bring the leader in.

(I would love to see Juggernaut make an appearance. If you read the comics you’ll know they have quite a spicy relationship which has unfortunately been retconned)

Yeah I would love to see a tank she hulk but I think marvel will cast someone more mousy because that’s how she’s described in the comics plus it’s a cool contrast for when she transforms. I mean, you wouldn’t cast the Rock as Bruce Banner

Titania is a good suggestion. Since you mentioned the Leader, why not do both. Have the Leader give Titania her powers instead of Doom.

Yeah titiania would be heaps of fun. Plus again, more body diversity.

It’s funny, a lot of people are saying she hulk can’t break the fourth wall or it’ll be goofy looking but fleabag breaks the fourth wall all the time and people love it.

I’ve just finished season 1 of fleabag. Has anyone else seen it?

Jen should absolutely break the fourth wall both addressing the audience on camera directly as well as with VO narration. And the material done during such moments needs to skewer the conventions of super hero stories and movies.

See. Now the more I think on it the more I believe Feige and Co. will drain this of its more out there and exotic elements and indeed just do a bland Ally Macbeal with super heroes gloss and call it a day.

I trust ‘em. They’ve never steered us wrong before.

I just think maybe it’ll be hard to please everyone. It’s kind of hard to show a struggling lawyer in the city dealing with superheroes and also trying to please people who are just watching it because they think she’s sexy. But we’ll see.

I watched Blockers last night, absolutely hilarious and another tick in Kay Cannon’s column for She hulk. I wonder when they’ll start casting?

I doubt Tim Blake Nelson is that busy and would turn it down.

Yeah I reckon mark will be up for it too. He’s often called the actor’s actor. I don’t think he’s a tv snob.

The only convincing point would be if they use him too much people might think he’s taking the spotlight off Jen and she might just look like a supporting cast character as opposed to a super important icon in her own right

If there's one MCU film hero that they don't have to worry about stealing too much spotlight, it's Professor Hulk. He's so timid, comical, and neutered now, not to mention lacking any sort of goals or direction of his own, that he could easily just coast along as a background guest character in She-Hulk for the rest of his MCU tenure and it wouldn't feel weird at all. I kind of wonder if that's the whole reason they turned him into Professor Hullk in the first place.

Probably more to do with the time travel thing. Plus it’s always good to freshen up the characters every now and then so they don’t get stale.

I wonder if they’ll screentest ruffalo with she hulk actresses like they did with spidey and RDJ? I hope not, she hulk can stand on her own feet and then some

I'd be shocked if Ruffalo isn't in this too. I fully expect the rest of Hulk's roster to show up too:

As for She-Hulk casting, I think the character has a pretty wide net in terms of options:

Jessica Biel, 37

Anne Hathaway, 36

Betty Gilpin, 33

Olivia Munn, 39

Gilpin was the first name I thought of when they announced this.

Wilde would also be good, though she’s turned down Marvel a few times before.

Elizabeth moss would be fun, I could see her owning the screen with the rest of the avengers.

Do you have a favourite look you’re hoping to see for She-Hulk? this would be fun

Evan Rachel Wood would be great

I could see a mixed race black actress cast as She Hulk. That way they could still keep the "she's Bruce Banner's cousin" part.

But why though? I like Betty Gilpin for Jen. Also wouldn't be opposed to Allison Brie.

Why not? The skin tone of the character by default for decades is green after all.

It seems superficial and unnecessary to me. I'd rather they introduce an original poc character then. There's plenty to choose from.

I definitely want someone who can play the role well more than I just want some white person because they look the part. Whoever’s best for the job should get the gig

I'm personally hoping we'll get a younger She-Hulk in either her late 20s or early 30s. If she weren't playing Supergirl, I think Melissa Benoist could've worked well. I'd like someone like that.

What actresses do we know similar to Melissa Benoist?

Or I'd like someone like a young Calista Flockhart for that Ally McBeal-like quality.

Apparently Stephanie Beatriz really wants the role lol know that doesn't mean anything but nice to see actors campaign.

I’m hoping Beatriz is America Chavez.

Kylie Bunbury was a good suggestion for Jennifer Walters that was made elsewhere.
