I disagree with that completely. There is a number of things a writer could do with the character that would be new and innovative.

It's just that DC would never allow 90% of them.

I kinda agree with Anubis. Joker is a great character, but it seems there isn't much left for him to do, and when he turns up these days it's more "oh wow it's the Joker! Batman's most famous villain!" rather than anything of any real quality. Morrison used him pretty well though.

*and I would have voted for DCAU Joker in that last round as well..can't believe how well he came across in all the episodes he was in!! I don't have anything against comic Joker aside from him suffering from sh***y writing every now and then.
