Marvel's April 2014 Solicitations

I wonder how long the Superior sister books are gonna last?

It would be a damn shame if we lose Superior Foes... arguably the BEST book Marvel puts out...

:yay:

I'd argue that the best book they put out is Thor. Superior Spider-Man is 2. Then Superior Foes in the mix for the rest of the top 5 with Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers.

I was wondering about that too. Superior Foes is a lot of fun. Especially the most recent issue. Hopefully as long as sales are decent they'll keep it around and/or maybe change the title to Amazing Foes or back to Deadly Foes. Maybe Team Up will go back to Avenging Spider-Man?

Damn it, Kot. Makin' me buy War Machines and Avengers books.

They should bring back just regular Marvel Team Up.
That would be ideal, but I'll take pretty much any team-up series I can get.

Oh, and the Nova cover makes me physically ill. People need to stop with that s*** already.

Man, DC's solicitations just came out, and between Marvel and DC I'm buying five $5 comics the month of April. Freakin' crap. I jumped from $81 in March to $132 in April. I'm going to have to do some serious surgery. I'm tired of all this price gauging.

Alright, did as much as I could. The previous month saw the end of Talon, so that's gone. It also was the end of several crossovers, so Constantine, Trinity of Sin: Pandora, and Guardians of the Galaxy are no longer required either.

In addition to those I've decided (for today anyway) to not bother with Magneto or the Wolverine & the X-Men relaunch. I'll go ahead and drop New Avengers (which is a shame since I like it a lot, but it's too closely related to Hickman's Avengers to really stand alone long term). I was planning to only get the Kate Bishop issues of Hawkeye, one of which comes out in April, but I'll push that back to a less expensive month.

Nightwing is ending in April, so that'll free up some space as well (though I doubt it'll end long term... I just have a feeling they have something up their sleeves).

All that still takes April down to $101, but it's close enough for now. There are quite a few Annuals and such that's only coming out in April, so it should go down the following month provided Marvel doesn't get too crazy with relaunches.

Yeah, I'm trying to convince myself to do that but will never actually follow through. I know me too well. Managing to drop X-Men, Wolverine & the X-Men, and both X-Force books is a good step. I've pretty much decided to just stick with the core X-Men books and not bother with other stuff unless I'm REALLY interested (which is why I plan on buying Nightcrawler but passing on X-Factor and Magneto).

Bendis' All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, and Aaron's Amazing X-Men are the core titles. Remender's Uncanny Avengers isn't as core, but I'm into the whole Apocalypse thing, so I'll stick with it while I'm still entertained. I'm not looking forward to yet another alternate reality, but I'll give Remender the benefit of the doubt to see how it plays out.

I'm not going back to X-Men unless something drastic changes. I know that in a sense all characters have moved away from their original status quo, some worse than others but the X-Men have become unrecognizable now.

Some people like to say that Spider-Man is "dead" (and not referring to the current SpOck storyline). To me the X-Men are dead and rotting worse that anyone could ever accuse Spider-Man of being.

I think they're both dead, but I'm just too heavily invested in X-Men to walk away.

Spider-Man has really improved since Big Time. The consistency of having a single voice and less editorial influence has been a big help to making it readable.

As I've said before, I might give it another shot after Slott leaves. I tried to give it a shot at Big Time and he ticked me off by mocking the marriage. I stayed on for about 11 or 12 issues (The FF issues) but dropped it due to finances. $4 at twice a month was too expensive then. Slott's just too connected to the OMD/BND era Spider-Man. Plus I didn't think he wrote Spidey's character very well during the issues I read. The stories were good, but the character always felt a little off. And no matter what, post OMD Spidey will always feel off to me because it's regressed. That will take away my enjoyment from the character every single issue. The only exception is when the whole issue deals with Spidey and not Peter Parker, because the moment you bring in Peter's personal life, it's regressed.

I'll start reading the X-Books regularly again when they stop treating Cyclops like a power mad criminal and Wolverine like a boyscout.

Having Cyclops condemned for being corrupted by the Phoenix and murdering Xavier when Wolverine and Wanda get a free pass just killed my enjoyment of the stories post AvX.

Wanda didn't really get a free pass. Plenty of people still hate her.

The Avengers have forgiven Wanda, but the mutants have not. She is still a pariah to her own race.

Yea, but Cap is still interested in arresting Scott, but Wanda gets to be an Avenger....as does Woverine.

I think that's just cuz Cyke has acted like such a smug d**k about it
hes all "hey, not my fault b**ches, I was possessed lolz"
as opposed to Wanda who got mind-wiped and disappeared for years and Logan who's constantly mopey about how much he kills people.

Not saying they should be forgiven outright, but it's all in how you present yourself.
Scott's always been an ass, so the other heroes were ready and eager to jump on the hate bandwagon

What the heck is with the last issue of Superior and the first issue of Amazing both being double sized $6 books in the same month? What extra junk are they jamming in there? :cmad:
