Marvels Biggest mistakes?

Let's see...so many to choose from....

Killing off Gwen Stacy. It helped pave the way for so many other pointless deaths and the women in refrigerators phenomenon.

Making Electra evil/insane. (No explanation needed.)

All that crap they did with Gambit's origins and making him a horseman of the Apocalypse. He was my favorite character! Why God Why?

The whole Spiderman clone story.

Cyclops deserting Jean for Emma Frost.

Gwen Stacy having Norman Osborne's illegitimate children.

Avengers Disassembled and Wanda's now being an insane super-villainess.

M-Day.

Spiderman; the Other.

Ages of Apocolypse - I mean the series ended on such a tramatic and great note, why oh why did they have to add to the series?
Plus it had some of the worst Bachalo art I have ever seen, and ignored known continuity from the AoA storyline such as - Sinister was killed in X-Man #4 and Sauron was a good guy in that universe. Yet they had Sinister alive and Sauron as a villian.

It was just a horrible story.:cmad:

i can't believe no one mentioned Jim Shooter's baby, the original New Universe. that was a colossal flop.

besides that, the hologram/foil covers sucked. the spider clone saga was confusing.

- Destroying GenX the way they did (not the best comic, but the way they ended that series and the characters that were in there was just bad....)
- Grey Gambit.
- Having writers with contracts for less than a year or two. They come in, change stuff then leave for bigger money while the characters just wait for the next writer to pick them up and change stuff all over again.

not giving new invaders a good writer and artist
not having THE captain america lead the invaders.
gwen stacy and norman osborn horribleness.
Planet HULK (I Know alot of people like it nbut to me its been really dull and boring...i wanna see hulk back on earth taking on the MU!!)
mac gargan venom
aunt may not staying dead..(that scene in that issue with ben reilly crying on parkers roof was a great scene...)
killing off ben reilly- the only good thing to come out of the clone saga..

^ I agree about Ben Reilly, he was the best thing to come out of the clone saga.

I disagree about Planet Hulk...it's the best thing to happen to Hulk in years. Plus it's gonna lead to the Hulk breaking heads in the MU next year.:woot:

I forgot about Gargan Venom...I want Brock back....chances are we'll see him around the time the movie comes out. I'll be ok with that.

every single one of these "big event to change everything and disrupt everyones lives when infact it's only a marketing ploy and one thing may change slightly to a slim extent but we made you look haha!!"...er...yeh...all of those...

also:
no one takes UFF seriously at Marvel
they nack up big time and then hold up other books due to the preiously mentioned big even bollocks
they can't just keep things normal, they have to "sake things up"
they want wolverine to live forever to make them lots and lots of money cause he's hip and cool and with it to the extent a 30 year old character can be
and still no MJ porn:cmad:

Ah yes, a few more I forgot to mention...

Paige Guthrie and Warren Worthington III-not only is it a horrible ship in and of itself it spelled out the end for the Husk/Chamber ship which was darned good.

They killed off Gertrude Yorkes who was the best character in Runaways and now they're making Chase evil as well.

JEAN GREY CAN"T STOP DYING!!!

Where to start...

Using Norman Osborn as a Deus Ex Machina
Avengers Dissembled
New Avengers
House of M
Sins Past
The Other
Iron Spidey
Turning Spidey into a wimp
Turning Iron Man into a villian
Mischaracterisation during Civil War
I AGREE ALSO ALLOWING JOEY Q'S POLICIES TO STAND

Totally agree with the Angel/Husk stupidness. Blah.

Totally disagree with Jean Grey, I already want them to bring her back! I know I know, can't help it.

Man, i forgot all about this one!! Man that storyline sucked! This thread brings back alot of bad memories of wasted time and money on this oh so forgettable arcs

Xorn; Xorn was awesome. Every bit as fresh as the New X-Men from the 1970s. Xorn turning out to be Magneto. It worked for the Morrison storyline, but completely ruined that character. In my opinion it was a bad decision to write his character out like that and then kill him/Magneto on top of it.

Off the top of my head?

- The Clone Saga; from start to finish, the first of many sharks Spider-Man has leapt
- Sins Past
- Nearly everything from The Crossing
- Stan Lee reducing Scorpion to a raving, irrational simplistic looney at the onset
- Mishandling Venom
- Mishandling the New Warriors so badly that it took CIVIL WAR to give them a chance.
- Xorneto
- Abandoning 95% of what Morrison did, even the GOOD ideas
- Unmasking Spider-Man
- Constantly screwing up Ghost Rider's continuity with half assed relaunches that omit key past material
- Resurrecting Norman Osborn and then turning him into a cliche within 2 years
- Claiming Phoenix merely "cloned" Jean to revive her back in the 80's, causing no end of headaches later; frankly the 90's cartoon did her resurrection better.
- Heroes Reborn
- Out of all of the CW flubs, the one that gets me the most is the portrayal of Mr. Fantastic during about 95% of it. Gone is the compassionate human being who loves his family and has the courage to stand up for his own, and replaced is a callous mad scientist who can't do more than whine when his world is crumbling around him and the agenda he follows is corrupt and backfiring. Were this The Brute or some Pupper Master manipulation I can buy it (hell, the Brute was exposed trying to impersonate Reed by doing less), but him acting normally is absurd. Even moreso than Iron Man.
- Choosing to kill off Carnage a good 4-5 years past when anyone would have cared. Had he been offed at the end of MAXIMUM CARNAGE, they might have made something of that besides it being a crossover full of action.
- The New Avengers being better as solo heroes than a team, least in their core book. So much potential wasted.
- Refusing to let the X-Men grow and change beyond what Claremont did.

How could I forget:

- 6 years of bone claw Wolverine, complete with the beastial, no-nose pirate mask crap

- The Neo

^ That didnt go on for six years did it? Man the do-rag just was......bad.

- Apocalypse's choice for horsemen.
- The whole first run of Excalibur. Wasted years for Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde.
- West Coast Avengers
- Great Lakes Avengers
- Stuff/Cassa Nova/Ernest
- Way on Origins
- Wolverine's attempt to be more, well, civil. I loved the fact that he used to fight his impulse to wreak havok. Now at the end of Wolverine Civil War issues he just be-heads guys without blinking. I liked the savage guy TRYING to hold back, it made him more dangerous.
- Dumping Marrow in the sewer. Litterally.
- Juggernaut joing the X-Men. What?
- Mystique joining the X-Men. Lets see she kills Moria Mactaggert, slits Banshee's throat, trys to kill them at least twice a year. Come on.

Why not just say almost everything since 1990, except for Annihilation.

The no-nose/do rag thing didn't last more than a year or so, but yeah, the "no admantium" bit drug on for 6 years total.

I do agree on Juggernaut; he always worked as a simple villian who ran opposed to Xavier. Without that he's just another tanker with some issues.

I like tankers with issues.

Ive read, and noticed that mostly the same things are mentioned. Why does Marvel..no..Joe Q take note?Because i bet he was behind all of these.

I remember shaking my head when Wolverine went "feral", or more like dog, remember him licking Cyclops....ugh.....
