I really think Marvel's heroines are easier to produce for film. They should move on from Elektra. Right now, it would be hard to sell stand alone heroines like She-Hulk, Shanna the She-Devil, and Spider-Woman. Or Ms. Marvel, if you want someone whose name doesn't start with "s".

But with today's market the femme fatales can work. My favorites are Black Widow, Silver Sable, and the Daughters of the Dragon. They don't involve so much special effects. Just lots of gunfire. Keep the action styles different and have a strong plot and acting.

Do you think it's possible to sell all three sequentially? Tie them loosely together with a sub-plot, like a mysterious threat that moves around below the radar. In the third film, the title heroine fully handles this threat. It can draw in the audience because they've seen the first two heroines.

I don't know a whole lot about Silver Sable or Daughter's of the Dragon, so can't really comment on them.

Black Widow would make a good movie...as well as be a conduit to other characters, such as Fury/S.H.I.E.L.D., Elektra, or other minor characters.

While I personally don't mind the idea of a She Hulk movie...I really don't forsee the studios going for a theatrical release on that...but rather more for a TV movie or series.

I posted something in the She Hulk in a Hulk 2 thread. I think the current She Hulk run is excellent and would be wonderful for film, but the problem is, I don't know if there is a big enough audience for her. I think the same could be said for most female heroines. There was a She-Hulk movie years ago with Brigette Neilsen but I think it was never released. Something about it being so bad Marvel did not want it out.

However, if a She-Hulk movie ever comes to fruition I want to be directing it. I already have the whole movie in my head and have even begun to write out the first draft of a screenplay.

No to Elektra (the movie ruined any chance at a sequel or TV chances), She-Hulk, Shanna (sorry Geena Lee) :O , Silver Sable and Spider-Woman.

Black Widow can be done properly in a movie format but Lions Gate wussed out. Story-wise their best bet would be to combine elements from her 2001 Grayson mini with elements from her "Coldest War" paperback. They just need to find the right mixture between the espionage/action from the Bourne movies and the off the wall fantasy element from the Underworld movies. With respect to David Hayter, they will also need an experienced director.

Ms. Marvel or Jessica Jones might be interesting as TV projects.

ah well.. until some other studio has success with a (solo) female hero project, I doubt marvel will get too much momentum with theirs, at the moment.. I would have loved to see black widow.. also others, like Ms. Marvel, spider-woman, etc.

Oh.. add Dakota North to the mix, as well..

Well since Black Widow isn't happening, I think if it was done correctly, Silver Sable could be a great film.

Black Widow will probally be taken over by Marvel instead now :o

elektra would be an amazing movie if done right. had they stuck to the comics and created a darker movie, it would have been awesome, im sure one day they will restart the daredevil/elektra franchise.

i think black widow would have been good as well. honestly if wonder woman fails.... i dont know what will happen

Femme fatales are attractive because they're heroic 'bad girls'. That kind of allure can be sold more easily than Wonder Woman, who is NOT a femme fatale.

True, Wonder Woman isn't a femme fatal, however she is considered the most well known female superhero (I'm going by the casual movie going public who probably haven't opened a comic in decades.) If her movie failed, producers would look at that and figure if Wonder Woman can't work as a movie then no one wants to see any female hero in a starring role reguardless of how much of a badass the character is. Is that fair? Hell no, but that's the way Hollywood seems to work.

Maybe. But Marvel's femme fatales don't have superpowers that require lots of explanation. Nor do they wear multi-colored costumes. For those fashion conscious girls, a jumpsuit is more dignified than star spangled pants.
