For a civilian I'd say any of the insane killer types, Typhiod Mary, Carnage, Venom.
For heroes, Doom, Mags, Thanos.

Actually, anybody whose read Bendis' Alias is already aware of just how blisteringly, heart stoppingly bad ass The Purple Man can be when given to the right writer... After Von Doom, he's the most intimidating.

Galactus jobs like 9 times out of 10.

If the question was in reference to the Marvel Universe overall then maybe. But in terms of people that actual Marvel heroes have to be afraid of, Galactus rates somewhere next to like, Paste Pot Pete.

Whereas if you're a hero and like, Doctor Doom and the Purple Man show up at your front door it's like "So hey, I'm getting killed, raped, power-stealed, and my children are getting tortured in Hell."

Thanos is the uber-villain. Give credit where it's due. Doom would need to ally with the heroes to tackle Thanos.

I would have said Doctor Doom normally, but he's been a chump for the last year. So, Galactus. Even villains across the universe know they are in deep **** if he is around and angry (or hungry).

Galactus or Thanos but they go beyond the concept of normal villainy because simply their power levels include an intelligence which is generally beyond human understanding. Galactus more then Thanos.

If a fully powerred Galactus, or a Celestial was going to harm you there is not much you can do unless you have similar power levels which is highly unlikely.
