Mass Effect 2

My favorite squad has to be Wrex and Garrus. They were awesome at my side.

And I'm hopeful that Wrex will be recruitable in the future for ME2, with DLC.

Has it been confirmed that Garrus will be at launch?

I killed Ashley by accident on my first play-through. I came to that situation and I was like, "Oh, I'll have Ash handle things; she's super-competent and will get the job done." Then she went boom and I liked her enough that I reloaded and had Kaidan die instead 'cause I didn't care about him at all.

Whenever I get to Virmire on subsequent playthroughs my thought process is always, "So I have to choose between Ashley the Space Racist and Kaiden "boring as hell" Alenko? Can't they both die?" :hehe: Haha.

ash isn't racist....she's got issue with aliens because of her grandad but I think thats it

From what I can tell all the romances have been confirmed now:

Male: Miranda, Subject Zero, Tali, Kelly Chambers (Shep's assistant)
Female: Jacob, Thane, Garrus

Ashley killed Wrex my first time through when I wasn't aware he was about to die (and didn't want him to die), and I subsequently have no desire to ever let Ashley live at the end of the game.

Yeah she did that to mine. I was SERIOUSLY pissed off at her but I had already broken up with Liara so I had no choice but to trek on forward.

...

Poor Wrex. :(

Poor Wrex indeed. When Ashley Killed him, I kept reloading and trying every possible combination of responses to save him, but nothing worked so I was like, "**** that. I will not let Ashley kill Wrex!" So I immediately started a new game with the intention of maxing out my persuasion stuff as soon as possible. But then I decided to see how the rest of the game played out before I went and started everything over.

I have to quit poking around and finish this game for the billionth time, lol. I got 120gb HD about a year ago and for some reason my ME files didn't transfer right so I had to go back and play it again.

Don't get me wrong, I love ME but after you play it so many stinking times it gets a bit old. I hope to finish it Monday and then transfer my lvl 60 over to ME2.

Also...maybe I missed it because I have tried to stay spoiler free...but what exactly do you get in ME2 for bringing over a lvl 60? Just more cash?

Tis all the driving or simplistic sidequests. I've read the next one is better in this regard.

I was seriously devastated, I was like "Maybe I have a save from before I landed" - no nothing. For the rest of the playthrough and the next one (I did the Liara romance) I HATED her.

I mean... why did she need to keep shooting him after he went down. :( I was like maybe we can heal him or *GUNSHOT-GUNSHOT-GUNSHOT

....

"WREX! NOOOOOOO!"

I'm playing as a jerk Sheppard who slowly becomes a better man...so, this play through I did something that I have never done and I shot Wrex.

It was hard...but I did it.

I did the same sort of thing as far as starting off with a very Renegade Shep and turning into a somewhat Paragon one by the end.

Minus killing Wrex. :cmad: :p

I hope Grunt doesn't hate me for doing it, lol.

It's funny to see that your ENTIRE party supports the fact that you kill him when you do. I thought for sure someone, maybe Tali would have said "surely there was a better way..." but nope, everyone was like "Good job, he was a danger to the mission anyway."

Yeah that was a bit of a shame. I felt that at times the party interaction wasn't what it should have been. Somebody SHOULD have reacted, there should have been tensions between Ash (or you) and the alien members of the party... SOMETHING.

Ah well, Bioware implemented fantastic character moments with your party in Dragon Age and they look like they're continuing that trend in ME2.

Thinking back on it, my Shep was a hardcore Paragon, so I think I offed Wrex myself when he started getting rowdy. I also seemed to subconsciously be playing Shep as trying to change Ashley for the better 'cause, let's face it, she totally is a racist b****.

Anyway, I just started my PC play-through this morning with Shep as an Adept. I've been reading the Mass Effect Wiki and decided to switch to Vanguard because I'm much more of a combat-oriented player. But luckily I literally started right before I had to go to work, so I've only gotten as far as walking in the conference room for the very first plot-related conversation with Nihlus and Anderson, so restarting isn't a big deal. I'm looking forward to 1) being a dick, 2) ensuring Wrex's survival, and 3) not using a gamepad this time. :awesome:

Does anyone know who they plan on playing the most with? I plan on taking Grunt and and Subject Zero with me through most of the game.

You know, if you play as a female Shepard you can influence Kaiden and turn him into an xenphobe as well. Which isn't at all what you are wanting to do, but I thought it was interesting.

Too early to tell really. For my first playthrough I'll probably just choose my squadmates according to the situation.

really?? every time ive played i have always had the option to talk Wrex down, maybe its because on all my playthroughs, i always make sure that as I level up, I juice my charm or intimidate

I'm going to have my Paragon Shepard and Zero together forever. Nice polar opposites. Then bring my Renegade female Shepard and have her, Tali, and Miranda. Willie's Angels.

Yeah, if your persuasion skills aren't high enough or if you haven't recovered his family armor it's impossible to save Wrex. If you don't kill him then Ashley will.

they need to quit BSing and just make Ashley gay in the third game (if she's still alive)

I'm gonna throw a point in Intimidate every level after level 5 or so. I like to focus on combat early on so that my dude isn't an expert conversationalist who keeps getting owned a quarter of the way into the game.

If I played a female Shep, I'd romance Liara. Kaidan was literally of no interest to me whatsoever throughout my entire time playing. I mean, I'm a completionist in BioWare RPGs and it was tough for me to even talk to the guy to get his backstory. He is, to quote the great Stephen Tiberius Colbert, "a manilla envelope glued to a beige wall." :oldrazz:

Im with you Corp, I really don't care for either of them but at least Liara is good for something....unlike Kaidan

[BLACKOUT]Too bad you cant see Tali's face. I was awfully curious[/BLACKOUT]
