and that's why I like him....he's not super flashy genius guy or crazy biotic guy, but he's got my back

you're pre meditating the murder of a black man thats just trying to help you out...that's a hate crime

yea I went there

To be honest, Cerberus in the first game wasn't really fleshed out or characterized. It was just a bunch of random NPC dudes who shot at you and who were involved in some seedy experiments.

Ultimately, I like Cerberus as presented in ME2. I don't really care about what they were doing in ME1 because I put a stop to all that by shooting them and stuff. I'd rather work for Cerberus than for the Council. Or Udina. But I'd work for Admiral Hackett as long as he was still voiced by Lance Henrikson.

I like the council. As with many real-life governments, the ideal they represent is great even if the execution falls short. Cerberus is still, at its core, about putting the interests of humanity before all else, which I'm not cool with. That there are some decent people mixed up in it is neither here nor there. Granted, I'm not too far into ME 2 yet, so something may come along to change my mind.

Wow, they really improved the mining in the 360 version of the game with the latest update. It's fast and efficient and I've depleted a planet in like 30 seconds. This game is now pretty perfect.

tl;dr version: "I, Corp, am a wussy-pants." :woot:

It's that much better? I was kind of wondering how the new mining compared. The patch auto-downloaded when I tried to run ME 2 the first time, so I've never used the old mining system. I figured people were either huge drama queens or they changed the mining system a lot because I really didn't mind mining at all. It's a little boring, but it's usually pretty quick.

The main problem I'm having is that I keep running out of probes because so many planets are rich in elements. They should really have placed a mining/refueling station in each system or, even better, never implemented the stupid fuel restrictions at all. I'm recruiting Tali now, but I think I'm gonna get Thane next so I can do the research to bump my probe count up.

The mining really wasn't that bad in my opinion. Not on a first playthrough at any rate. I do appreciate the patch though.

Since I love love Mass Effect, I just wanted to get back into the action. The mining kinda took me out of it. Especially when I'm trying to scope out a non rich planet.

Not it's pretty effortless.

I hope they take out all of the resource management stuff for ME 3. Make everything buyable again so you only have to worry about money, and restore the ease of flying around the universe from the first game. Forget about fuel, probes, and resource management. They're such an unnecessary hassle, much like the Mako sections in ME 1. :o

I think I read that they were going to keep it but work on streamlining the entire process.

In ME1, it was Tali and Liara who I didn't like. While Liara's retroactively grown on me - I've come to like what a good job the animators did tying her facial expressions to the voice actress in a few talks - I can't stand Tali. She annoys me so freaking much.

I like Liara's growth in ME2 as a character, and I really hope that some piece of DLC ends up involving her. But I still can't stand Tali. After meeting her at Freedom's Progress and seeing how she was handling that situation, I hoped she'd come out differently, but once she's on the Normandy it just feels like ME1 again. Bored. Want to talk to someone else now.

Mind you, I'm not saying she's badly-written. Her character fulfills a certain desired and needed role; it's just not a role I care about.

Then again, my two Shepards are pretty ruthless, so hey.

Fair enough, I thought Tali was vastly improved over her ME1 role whereas this time she doesn't act as a Quarian codex (like Liara did in ME1 for the Asari) but functions as an actual character.

That and her loyalty mission was probably the most emotional one in the game. The voice actress did a hell of a job selling that entire quest.

Upgrade/Downgrade Analysis of teammates:

Garrus/Archangel - I think out of all the characters they did an Empire Strikes Back leap for Garrus's character in ME2. Great character depth and while you did see some of this in the first ME1 they just expounded on it in the sequel. Love to see how his storyline folds out in the 3rd chapter.

Tali - Maybe a step down in character development from Garrus but the sequel made you care about what she was going to and which is why I didn't sleep with her, made her feel like family in the 2nd.

Wrex/Grunt - Maybe I'm leaning more towards Wrex because he was the chiseled veteran while Grunt is well a grunt/rookie. I can almost call this a wash because Grunt grows on you but like I said, I have a little more loyalty towards Wrex.

Liara/Samara - While Samara was more powerful than Liara, I just found her a little boring. Love the cleavage though.

Kaiden/Jacob - It's almost the case of who I disliked more than it was who I liked more. I would sacrifice both if I could. I give a slight edge to Jacob as I feel he was a little more interesting.

Ashley/Miranda - I don't like change but with Miranda was able to get me to cheat with her. This is almost a wash for me as well as Ashley was badass in the 1st game especially when she shot Wrex for you.

Honorable Mentions: Thane and Mordin, the addition of these characters just brought interest, depth and humor to the game. Such fleshed out characters.

Is there any way for your reunion with Ashley on Horizon to go better? She was super-pissed at me. She wrote me an e-mail later, but at that point I was just like, "Piss off, I'm totally gonna bone Jack now."

Tali hates me too, at least for the moment. I was fairly mean to her on Freedom's Whateverthef***. I saved it right at the beginning of her recruitment mission before I went to work this morning, though. Still deciding whether I want to be nice to her or continue being a jerk. I never really liked Tali.

You're just making me want to find some loophole that allows me to murder her even more. :oldrazz:
