Mass Effect 2

I might actually not go through with this.

I just remembered the utter disappointment in the squadmembers when you keep the Collector Station around. :(

After all the ******** you put with, you make one choice, and they're like "Leave me alone, you left place intact".

I wish there was an option that said "Shut up, I'm your boss, respect my decision."

I usually start my Shep off as being a Renegade and somewhat racist and human-first and I have him shed that by 2/3rds of the way through.

My Sherpard has the ruthless background, and usually talks tough (which is to say I choose the "jerk" option more often that not)--but come decision time, he's always on the paragon side, because he knows the cost of renegade-style decision-making.

God, I'm such a nerd.

Mass Effect 2 runs on the Mass Effect 3 engine? Well, then I guess my decision on which platform to get it has been made. I recently ordered Mass Effect 1 for my 360. I'll play through that to experience the whole story, then continue on the PS3 and simply make the same decisions in the interactive comic.

I just always was a good natured guy, I could never do the "evil" choices. I was pretty much pure paragon in both games. I guess you could say my Shepard was a like a boy scout.

I normally play as a paragon during my first playthrough, although I do have my slip ups like when I stab that guy in the back who's fixing the air ship when you are trying to find Assassin.

It's cathartic to let your guys let loose in when you play as a renegade though. :o

Pure Paragon very much is a "boy scout," definitely, but I don't see Renegade as "evil."

Paragon and Renegade really couldn't have been better choices of terms for the "morality" paths. Well, Vigilante could have worked in addition to Renegade, but Vigilante does have other connotations that don't quite apply.

I remember going pure Paragon with my first character ever. I generally do that. My first KotOR character was, of course, pure Light Side. Then, like Erz posted, I had fun with a subsequent Dark Side playthrough to let loose.

What a player finds acceptable is a funny thing. Lots of people feel guilty being a jerk or evil, unable to find for themselves a disconnect with the game atmosphere (which generally speaks much about the immersion factor). Heck, even though I've found a disconnect when it comes to my characters, and can RP them as they should be to mold the story perfectly for them, I still don't like being a *****e toward the surrounding cast. Except for the peripheral ones. I'll leave holes in their skulls. :cmad:

But my MainShep, she isn't Pure Renegade, but she's mostly Renegade. This is really only because a few Renegade responses here and there really don't make sense, or are stupidly written. There're a lot of corpses left in her wake, including the majority of colonists on Feros and Wrex, bwahahaha.

Okay pushing the guy out the window was excessive. :o

Maybe he had kids damn it! You've made orphans of his children you monster! :cmad:

Conversely, I hate when going Paragon and ostensibly thinking things through intelligently winds up being wrong. Like when you're chasing that chick on Ilos and you find her in a room but can't be sure she's actually the one you're looking for. I lowered my gun and let her leave, thinking she was probably another worker or whatever, and then later she tries to kill me. I was like, "B****, I should've shot you in the face when I had the chance!" :argh:

Funny thing, I actually shot her the first time, yes I'm that horrible. :o

You're like a woman. :cmad:

ok.........I'm going to be picking ME2 up in Jan when it comes out on the PS3......

what class would you recommend for a ME noob...........Adept or Vanguard?

From reading the descriptions, I kind of like Vanguard ( Charge looks too cool! ).

any tips on playing as a Vanguard?

thanks.

I think my easiest playthrough was with the Infiltrator. You get to be a deadly sniper with slow-mo scope and can become invisible. No one can close in on you and in the unlikely event they do, you simply disappear and back away to your comfortable range. What's more badass than that?

I usually play Infiltrator myself though I've dabbled with the Sentinel and Adept.

Vanguard's the trickiest class to get a handle on at first but they're seriously effective once you do. Just remember that in a lot of ways you're like a glass cannon, you've got a very strong kick but until you get some kind of defensive bonus power you can't take too much damage.

hmmmmm..........thanks.

so, would you suggest I take Barrier as my bonus power to boost my defense?

oh, and on the subject of Adepts............once I get my enemy trapped in Singularity and they're floating in the air..........should I shoot them while they are floating? is

that what you should be doing?

Yeah Barrier would be the best choice to provide you with a little defensive edge and it will also tie into any Biotic upgrades you get which is more convenient for you.

Yes.

Are you asking for class advice in ME or ME2?

ME, really, any class you can do just fine with, though Adept and Vanguards can be squishy starting out.

In ME2, I wouldn't really recommend anyone start with an Adept.

Why's that? My first playthrough on both games was with an adept (and the same will go for ME3; it's my favourite class), and I found that it was more difficult starting out with an adept in ME than it was in ME2. Also, adept + sniper rifles in ME2 for the win.

Might not recommend it on insanity, though.

On Hardcore or Insanity when you run into shields/armor/barrier a lot more running an Adept your first time can be tricky. I guess on the PS3 it might be easier if they get access to Stasis earlier as a Bonus power but otherwise getting a handle on the gameplay before dealing with the Biotics vs defense element as the player.
