Mass Effect

I don't know if it's right to say it has a good story, but it certainly has about the same quality story as most big budget action adventure flicks have.
It would be right at home on the big screen.

Until there is a release date, I won't believe this movie will ever get made... together with all the other video game movies...

Halo, Bioshock, Gears or War, Call of Duty etc

Even City of Heroes is stuck somewhere

Ipodman is right. Usuallly when there's a date of some sort, the movie aint' gonna get the greenlight.

JJ Abrams should do it. ME is like a darker version of Star Trek 2009.

I suggest go with the FIRST CONTACT WAR as a storyline. Independence Day set in space with a major twist. The aliens are the GOOD guys.

EDIT:

I imagine an epic end scene with a Human and Turian shaking hands introducing themselves and walking along the Presidium/Citadel while "All Along The Watchtower" plays. The catch? The Human is David Anderson (Basically Obi-Wan) and the Turian is Saren Arterius (Villain of Mass Effect 1)

Come to think about it... Mass Effect DOES have a Star Trek Xi kinda feel....

Nolan could also do it. Mass Effect already has the Batman-esque Garrus Vakarian

Chris Nolan's Mass Effect? Some have suggested he will direct because he has worked with LEGENDARY PICTURES before. I would suggest his less grittier brother John though.
Mass Effect is good for a first time director, plenty of material and a universe of possibility

LEt's not immediatly go all "Six Degress of Chris Nolan " just because Legendary has worked wit him in the past.
Legendary as a production company has had a succesful partnership with WB for the last few years .
THe recent wave of CB movies released by WB were all partnerships with Legendary such as 300 , BB , TDK , SR and Watchmen

They also brought Clash Of The TItans , Hangover and oter flicks to the screen. Nolan pretty muich gets carte blance and total creative freemdom to make is movies nowadays and when you have Avi Arad as someone who wants to have his vision also on screen ( see the spider-man 3 debacle) , that could cause some problems. And Nolan isn't the one olding the rights , Avi is ( at least partially).

ANyway good news for gaming fans but i say let's wait till Legendary and Avi Arad bring another one of the aquired games to the screens.
Wasn't World Of Warcraft supposed to come out in 2011. We ain't hearing alot of that one now do we

there have to be like 12 people out there who are actually waiting for a City of Heroes movie

They're already getting into it with the casting over at AICN and immediately using the default Shepard on the package as the model, while others are like, "but my Shepard was black or female, etc." So it is kinda iffy. My suggestion would be for the sequel, if he does die at the end of part one, bring him back as a clone, but either as a black or female Shepard. Mind screw, indeed.

that's what you get for debating over at AICN, although throwing poo at the wall is more constructive then debating those ****tards over there

I don't see that as a sad thing at all

Id love a Beyond Good and Evil movie, but I'm not holding my breath or starting an online petition (because those always work)

Don't know why, but I think Natalie Portman would make an awesome Jack:

I believe she also came out and said she wouldn't shave her head again for a role

its a rather drastic alteration, for a woman, is my guess....she's had long hair for a good part of her life...to completely get rid of it all is kind of a big deal

When I first saw her bald, I really got a shock

I just can't see them getting all the story and the characters right. The game is like 40+ hours and it's insanely immersive; that's why it's so incredible. If you lose that connection with the characters and story by trying to cram everything in to a 2 hour movie it's just going to suck.

Unless, like others have suggested, they just go with a completely different story for the ME movie. That's probably a better idea.

The main quests aren't really 40+ hours. Sure, it's a big game, but they don't need all the extra sidequests for the story. Maybe include some for the fans. I still think they can do it. We'll see...
