Mass Effect

Of course you mean Jack Shepard...From 1 Shepard to another, lol!

I absolutely LOVE Mass Effect. Hell, it just might be my all time favorite game series. With that being said, a movie would seem inferior to me. The game is like a damn lifestyle, so a movie would feel like it's just a snack compared to the full course meal that the game offers.

I hope Yvonne Strahovski will be in the movie, since she has already provided the voice-over in the game.

Those people making HALO (Peter Jackson and Neil Blockamp namely) better get their act together now....

The best option is the Contact Wars and you start building the universe that way. LOVE the games so I hope they get this right, otherwise don't bother.

Mass Effect is epic gaming so this needs to be a big project.

If you sit back , relax and watch the cutscenes of the game (and throw a little in-game) you'll see a story much better told than a lot of movies.

Visually it definitely reminds Abraams Start Trek (especially the color pallete they used in the movie).

Do you think they should add her into the story for the original game, or change the story so that her character will appear, or just skip the story from the first game and do the story from the second game?

either do the First Contact War or skip way way way ahead and tell an all new story

They'd have to tell Shepherd's back-story. Make him the good guy, since that's what the audience wants. Right? I'm assuming we all want him to be the good guy. ;P

Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp aren't working on Halo anymore. The studio scewed them and dropped the project so now that the studio says it's interested again, they've said they won't return.

I think a Mass Effect movie would be pretty cool.......as long as Uwe Boll gets nowhere near it :hehe:

I agree. Translating the events of the games into a movie would fix Shepard's background, temperament, race and gender; which runs counter to the way they've designed the character. On the other hand, the First Contact War was a much less 'epic' event compared to the games and the humans didn't really have much in the way of biotics (which is where the game gets its name).

Here's an interesting one, how about Guy Pearce for Shepard?

I know that Male Shepard is the "canon" character......but what's the chance they do a female Shepard as the main character?

or, perhaps, they do both........2 Shepards.....brother/sister......

oh....and Tali better be in it! lol

Considering the fact that gamers can alter Shepard's appearance as they see fit, just about anybody could be cast as Shepard.

Its the guy that actually served as model for the character.

Shepard's definitely gonna end up male. I wouldn't be against a female Shepard though.

And the movie is based on Shepard's story, Tali's definitely in it.

I was about to say, 'cause I was looking at him and was like, "wow, that's pretty freakin' creepy how much he looks like Shepard!"

Imagine seeing that guy in real life? I'd probably think I was hallucinating for a minute.

How strange. I don't WANT a Mass Effect movie. But I still feel this could be really good. The universe, the races, the conspiracy. I feel of pulled off well, it could be great.Or it could end up a February movie about humans fighting for their freedom or some bull.

The game makers are producers, which is nice, but did nothing for Wing Commander. It comes down to who is chosen to direct and how much money he, she or it are given to do it.

I suggest skipping the games story and making it a story set in the same universe, but not that of Shepard specifically.

Well, movies have tried that before, and fans *****ed because it lacked the protagonist.

Well, Commander Shepard can be an extremely different character in appearance and demeanor depending on who's playing him or her. I think anyone who's experienced the games can agree that it's just weird seeing other Shepards. It's like, the "real" Shepard is the one you've gone through two adventures as. Not your friend's, not the default one they use in marketing, and not the actor who may potentially play him. Yours is the real one.

While that's certainly no concern to the people involved in the film, it's only one of many issues that can be avoided by telling an original story. As I said on the first page, the Mass Effect universe is definitely rich enough to support a unique story that is in no way tied to the plot of the games. The best course of action is tell the story of humans discovering the Prothean ruins on Mars, the First Contact War, and humanity finding its place in galactic civilization. That way it stays true to the spirit of the games without screwing up the game's story.
