The whole thing is ridiculous. The "petty thing" they were arguing about was the fact that he had a gun.
Apparently she wanted to confiscate it. ...then he shot her.

In Sept. 2021 a 16-year-old [Jacari Taylor] fired several shots in a busy hallway inside Heritage High School during lunchtime, injuring two 17-year-olds,
Less than two months later in December, 18-year-old Demari Batten fatally shot 17-year-old Justice Dunham in the parking lot of Menchville High School after a football game against Woodside High School, also within the Newport News Public Schools system
What the ****, man?!There’s probably going to be some deceased in there, but we don’t need any more from out here

Good thing he was fired. He obviously deserved it.
This happened in an area with lots of Asian-Americans. This weekend is the Lunar New Year...
Oh for sure. Those events get the most press along with terrorism. This could have been a domestic or love triangle event. Or gangs. Who knows? The fact that most reasonable people’s first reaction is that it was a hate crime tells you where we are as a country.
Probably means we will never know why he did it.The suspect in the mass shooting in Monterey Park, California has been identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, police said. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound when police approached a van in which he was traveling.
I didn't know that about Asians hating on other Asians. I did just see quickly on MSNBC that the shooter and his ex-wife used to go to the dance hall, and had arguments about it. They are looking at this as more of a domestic violence problem. Even so, it doesn't excuse shooting a bunch of innocent strangers.Asian-on-Asian crimes are a thing, though. The shooter at the Californian church last year has anti-Taiwan views.
The motives are indeed still unclear. RIP to the victims and the person who disarmed the shooter is a hero.
Monterey Park shooting: Brandon Tsay who disarmed gunman had never seen a real gun
