Mass Violence in America: the All Inclusive Thread

RIP to the victims. Maybe this is the school shooting that will finally cause something to change? Or is it naive to be that hopeful?

Horrifying. A commentator onCNN just said that this is the 30th shooting at a K-12 school THIS YEAR! GEEZ!

Children are an acceptable casualty to the gun issue in America.

As Captain America says:

F***ing enough

Ted "You can call my wife ugly and I'll just kiss your ass" Cruz is already complaining about the Dems calling for gun control.

Posting this scene from Superman Birthright as it seems relevant here:

#Enough.

I am so sick of hearing about these things happening. This is so sickening and heartbreaking. Whats causing these people to do these things? And why cant our country do anything about it?! This does not happen anywhere else!!

I'd say I'm glad my daughter is out of school, but she goes to the grocery store too, so there's that.... :(

I feel so sorry for those kids, I've an 8yr old at school right now and I can't imagine what terror they'd go through when a shooter is stalking them.

I'm not American so really don't get the obsession (by some) with maintaining gun ownership. In most parts of the Western World they're heavily restricted and in those areas we don't tend to have mass shootings. The right to bear arms was all fine and well 200 years ago, but now there is a rising number of mentally ill people getting access to weapons and innocent children paying the price, you have to wonder what will it take for those lobbying for the NRA to actually change their mind.

Sigh

Thing is, we all know getting America to agree to no more guns (as much as that should happen) won't be happening for at least a number of generations. Too many parts of the US worship the Constitution like it's a holy book for that to happen

What I don't get is why in the name of **** is the evaluation to purchase a gun still state relative over there? If there's anything that needs to be regulated on a macro scale for the entire country, I would've thought it'd be if you can be trusted with a device that can expel shaped shrapnel at double the speed of sound.

And yet here we are, with more children ****ing dead and only thoughts and prayers being provided.

One good thing about schools being closed during the pandemic: Less people to shoot.

Now that schools are open again, things are getting back to "normal." :csad:

You always wonder when its enough for Republicans...and you are always not suprised to find out that this is not the point yet.

Im still baffled that its totally normal for some that an 18 year old can legally buy an ASSAULT Rifle but its not okay for the same person to buy beer.

We had a shooting a few days ago here in Germany, zero dead because the Shooter only had a Crossbow and therefore couldnt be as effective as he would have been with an ASSAULT Rifle that can fire several heavy bullets in a minute.
Of course we do have shootings once in a while, but thats it...once in a while...not 100+ yearly.

I know you will never be able to get rid fully of the obsession of guns and this whole "I need guns to protect me and my family", but at some point people need to realize that what america does is going over board.

Nobody needs a room full of guns with more ammunition than your local police station.
Nobody needs body armor and tactical gear at home.

Teacher shouldnt be armed, kids shouldnt be taught how to react to school shootings...none of this should happen in a first world country for christ sake.

It's never going to be enough if the solution eats into their profits, unfortunately

Evil, disgusting & heartbreaking for all the families who's loved ones were involved. Had to shut off the news last night as it was upsetting me hearing the confirmed death tally gradually rising with what seemed like each passing minute.

What else needs to be said, it seems like I end up popping into this thread every few months & the same things are talked about as to what needs to happen. But as always, nothing will change until unfortunately the wrong son, daughter, sister, brother, wife or husband is murdered of the right person with the power to actually try to inflict a positive change in the gun laws in America.

"A good guy with a gun" is a lie. Its a fantasy.

I hope their lives are as miserable as the one Parkland cop.

That guy is helpful isn't he? What a helpful thing to post on social media at this time, yeah lets shame the cop(s) that worked at/near the school for the events that transpired because none of them were injured or killed in their attempts to prevent the gunman reportedly armed with two high powered rifles & body armour from entering the school.

Yeah, shame those guys, they're all the same anyway aren't they? Lets make them feel even more like **** than they presumably already do now knowing what followed their failed engagement with the shooter.
