Mass Violence in America: the All Inclusive Thread

A county in my state is putting one AR-15 in all of its schools for resource officers to use in the event of a mass shooting. The guns will be locked up and only resource officers will have keys to the gun vault.
And the speed at which these shootings occurs means they will be too late to stop it. Besides which ignores the whole "too many guns" problem by adding more guns. Give a drowning man a glass of water.

Theme parks are no l9nger sacred. :(

Totally normal. This is American life.

So the trauma starts younger and younger. :(

Guns rights activists bring guns into the store because they have a "good guy with the gun" fantasy. Usually they just end up doing... that.

I'd think most of them would just end up shooting bystanders if that ever happened for real.

Most times that would happen and/or they would be shot by the cops who don't know who "good guy with a gun" is, especially if the guy is black.

Who brings a gun to a store? Geez.....
Walmart, at least in the South where Ive traveled, have an open carry policy. I've only ever seen hunters and sports shooters take advantage of it, but that was back when there were clerks for the sporting section that actually knew something about guns.

The idea is if you have a question about your gun, want to see if an attachment will fit your gun, or want to compare your gun to another you can take your gun to the back. But Walmart has neglected their gun sections the past couple decades so its pretty much pointless where I live. You'd be better off going to a mom and pop sports shop or even a pawn shop for gun related stuff.

“The gun was in his waistband not holstered and loaded. The gun slipped down his leg, he attempted to grab it, and was somehow manipulating the weapon and discharged the firearm,” said Sgt. Akeem Turnbull with Lovejoy Police.

:wall:
No holster. No carrying a pistol.

I mean, the fact that he wasn't fired long before this, hell, its been a while since the damning report has been out, all indicates this is them trying to protect their own asses from the incoming lawsuits.

Yeah, what a coincidence.

Families of the victims: We're suing you for BILLIONS of dollars.
Uvalde council: The SOB is fired.

Of course he claims they did not legally fire him so he did not show up to the meeting. Which means this cowardly SOB will probably sue to keep his job.

Oh, they definitely are trying to avoid the lawsuits.
How does a school board fire a police chief? I thought the city had to hire and fire police. Or is he just fired from his duties at the district's schools?

The school system in that city has their own separate police force to oversee the security of the schools. He and the officers he commands are not part of the Uvalde city Police department.

The "independent school system" is Texas' little run around Brown vs Board of Education.
