Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

David S. Goyer in Talks to Direct #HeMan Film #MastersoftheUniverse' for Sony (Exclusive) https://goo.gl/rA9BeR

David S. Goyer, the prolific writer behind the “Dark Knight” trilogy, is in talks to direct “Masters of the Universe” for Sony, TheWrap has exclusively learned.
Goyer wrote the most recent draft of the script. Sony has set “Masters of the Universe” to be released on December 18, 2019.

Well, there we go. Nobody wants to touch this thing.

I repeat, NOBODY wants to touch this thing.

If Goyer is not on this to make it gritty but instead shoots for a balanced tone between the original animated series and Conan, I'm willing to give him a chance.

I can't believe I'm saying this...but I prefer McG over who we have now. At least The Babysitter was fun and embraced what it was (even if it was a bit too try-hard at times).

After Ragnarok, everyone should have an idea about how this could work. I can't believe they are having to settle on Goyer.

Goyer has had too many second chances. Nobody wants this.

If he genuinely is a fan of the cartoon as most of us Gen Xers are, I can kinda give him the benefit of the doubt. But just use the goddamn Omnibus as a template.

At best, he's a boring choice. Every movie he's directed has been a dud, his track record as a writer is EXTREMELY hit-or-miss.

His TV work is a little more consistent. I guess.
Honestly, I'd be more keen on the guy who directed the new Power Rangers movie.

Huge property if done right could result in merchandising galore...

I remember watching the cartoons when really young but not really a whole lot of specifics about them. Toys were awesome though.

Oh boy, David Goyer-- director of the hit film, Blade: Trinity!

I’m fine with David as a story guy and a script collaborator. As a sole writer, not so much. Not even close as a director.

This isn’t a franchise that’s ever hooked me in any incarnation, but I respect the hell out of it and want to see it done right. It’s weird to me that nobody’s cracked the concept, yet. A little Clash of the Titans (that movie had its merits), a little cosmic MCU, a little LEGO movie, a little Flash Gordon, and I’d throw in a little touches of the Illiad and the Aeneid. Just a fun fantasy space adventure. Top it off with a director with a signature style and there you go. I don’t see Goyer being the guy behind the camera.

Is he directing? I like the guy as a story teller for sure and I think his scripts are better than he gets credit for. But as a director I fear for what the end product would be.

Oh no. If Goyer does it he will make he man silly!

;)
