Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

Doesn't mean it will be. Your statement was he is above this kind of thing, and based on his filmography he really isn't

I think he meant less about quality, and more about role size. Dark Tower and that lion film he was still the lead star. This he would be like, what, fourth down the line?

And yes, Thor, but that was near the beginning of his film career.

Technically 4th down the line, but he is going to be Adam's mentor. That's still a large role. It isn't like he is signing up for Triclops here

Yeah he also did that stupid movie where he was trapped in a car fighting a lion. That one sucked too. I love Elba but he’s definitely taken some crappy roles. I don’t blame the guy; sometimes you have to take what’s offered to you.

But with Elba’s casting, Galatzine will really have to bulk up for this though because you can’t have Duncan being bulkier than He-Man.

He wasn't trapped in a car the whole movie. Also, it was a fun little B-movie. Also he was the lead in the movie and got to fist fight a lion.

OK and at this point in his career, I think he should be the main villain rather than the main guy's mentor. I think he'd be perfect for Hordak.

The mentor is still an attractive role in these kinds of movies. Maybe he could have been Hordak, but I don't see that as an upgrade honestly.

Okay. TBH, I only got about halfway through it before I turned it off because I was so bored. The point is, he’s a great actor but isn’t above taking paycheck roles. I think any movie where a man fistfights a lion qualifies. That might have been a lead, but it wasn’t good (IMO, not even by B-movie standards).

I thought it was decently watchable. Plus the movie was built around his character and he was the lead. Secondly, I want him to play Hordak still!

Between this and Tron, Leto’s really coming for all your beloved 80s properties.

Gonna make a Knight Rider movie next probably.

At least it's not Sacha Baron Cohen. I'm honestly not that upset.

I actually thought he was OK as Hat Box Ghost in Haunted Mansion, even though he didn't really do a whole lot and anyone really could've played that.

Wait a minute...Goat Man? GOAT MAN? Why the frell are they using Goatman and not having The Mountain of all people play Beast Man or another big imposing creature. There's got to be something up here that they would use Goat Man instead of Beast Man. What the frick gives?

Honestly, the Goat Man thing is what annoys me the most about this casting news.

At the end of the day, Travis Knight is co-writing and directing this. I have more faith in him handling this project than anyone else. Think of how many directors and writers have been on MOTU for decades. The Nee brothers never sold me on jack slack. They had Justin Marks. They had McG. They had a ton of people.

Also, I expect the movie to flop mainly because He-Man hasn't been relevant or popular since the 1980s. But I have a small hope that Knight can still make a semi-decent movie.

Who ever wanted Goat Man? We should've had Beast Man or Mer Man. Goat Man is as bad as those made up characters for the 1987 MOTU movie.

Jared Leto is no Frank Langella. He's already a step down.

I don’t even remember Goat Man. What the hell?

Goat Man is a minor character from the mini-comics who also made a short appearance in Revelations. He was never a significant character or even much of a member of the Evil Warriors.

Is it just me or does it seem like movie adaptations do this kind of thing constantly? You always have your tentpole characters that everyone wants to see, but then some BRILLIANT screenwriter plucks some weird character out of obscurity and uses them instead.

Its definitely becoming a staple with Amazon. They're introducing brand new characters in Voltron...as if we asked for that?
