Damn, this movie is in some dangerous "flop" territory box-office wise. I absolutely loved it too. I can't think of many other theatrical flops that I loved this hard.

Hard to believe Reeves pulled this of with a 150 million dollar budget, movies like BvS with a much bigger budget look more greenscreen-y to me.
Apart from that, it is the feel-bad-summer-movie-blockbuster of the year. I really suffered watching this in a good way.

Just saw it again. Left the theater feeling more satisfied than before, but still sort of conflicted on it. It's basically riding between a B+ and an A- to me. The first act of the movie is really, really good. Some of the best blockbuster filmmaking I've seen. Then it dips in the second act and gets slow (the exposition scene with the Colonel is especially clunky on rewatch), and picks back up towards the end, but never reaches the heights of the early part.

Rewatching Dawn, I'd have to give it an A, with Rise as a B. I'm really not sure how to rank this one. Probably more of a B+ just because of how conflicted I am (I usually come out of an A- movie beaming). Still a really solid trilogy that I look forward to owning on Blu-Ray.

Doctor Strange had a great theme but yeah the rest was lackluster. I do LOVE the end credits track and the way it calls back to old psychedelic rock.

I liked it too but it was too similar to his own Star Trek score.

Finally got a chance to see this yesterday. I can summarize it in one word: Captivating!

This movie had me in its vice-grips from beginning to end. One of the most majestic, heartfelt, emotional cinematic masterpieces ever made. Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar. The special effects team deserves an Oscar. Matt Reeves deserves an Oscar. Not only will I remember this film for years to come, but for me, this trilogy will go down as the greatest trilogy of all time (sorry BTTF!).

Taking off the slightest of points for not referencing the ICARUS (personal opinion) and for a slightly confusing/poorly explained part in act 2, I give it a 9.5.

It didn't actually say how long it's been since DAWN. What it did say was that the events of the RISE were "15 years ago." And since we know that DAWN was 10 years after RISE, that would make a 5 year gap between DAWN and WAR.

Also, Titansupes is correct. Chimps age roughly twice as fast as humans and Cornelius is still a toddler. It strikes me as unlikely that he's five years old.

I think there are worse cases of ripping off one's own stuff than this. For example James Horner, which is funny in a paradoxical way considering he was much better composer than Giacchino is.

So the movie is at about 236.3 m WW not including sat and sunday numbers and the full week for OS. The movie has 3 places were it as yet to come out. 2 of those being big places in China and Japan. I know its USA numbers are going to be low but I am not sure how its other places are comparing to what Dawn did.

Dawn made over $500 million overseas and $208 million domestic. So doesn't look like it's going to come close to those numbers overseas either.

Rise made $300 million overseas.
