Just lazy storytelling with them literally stumbling on to the tunnel and A perfectly timed avalanche hitting the perfect place and wiping out everyone, I get it was because of the explosions but still. Its the equivalent of killing Ultron kills all the robots. They stopped Harrelson and the result wiped out a huge looming threat in 30 seconds, I mean after that trailer that was a huge fakeout.
One thing I've always appreciated in these movies were the time it gave to breath. We're with the family Franco a long time in Rise before anything crazy happens, in Dawn it's a good while before we're introduced to the humans. But here it felt like we hardly got going before Caesers family are killed and we're off.
Harrelson's death. I get what they were going for but it did not land with me, it just felt like the easy way out rather than understated.
Luca's death - mainly the whole flower moment. Those two scenes happen within like two scenes of each other, it seemed odd more than touching.
Caesar's death. Again, like a lot of the third act it just fell really flat. I adored this character but when's it came to his death I just didn't feel anything. Like Harrelson i think they we're going for understated but it just did nothing for me. I wanted him to go out like a hero or sacrificing himself than slumping on a rock.
I think this movie just lacked a moment. It's a neat story but it's hardly told in a compelling way and there isn't a wholly satisfying moment. There's nothing here that competes with the bridge scene in Rise or the tank shot in Dawn. I really really like the first two acts but the entire thing really fizzles out imo.
