Matthew Vaughn to direct Thor

Don't need a big time director? Look at X3 or Fantastic Four. That's what happens when you skimp on a director.

If they go anywhere near that, for the Thor an Loki, It'll be just great

Lets not go crazy... how many WWII set pieces is Spielberg gonna do? Plus this is Captain America... not Superman... you don't need a big time director for any of these comic book films... it simply isn't worth it... look what happened to Ang Lee's Hulk...

Plus, I remember reading in an interview that Speilberg is tired of using the Nazi's as the bad guys in his films.

I really have my doubts that he's go there again - it kinda seems almost like a regression.

Do you think Vaughn, Lettier, or Favs are big time directors? I wouldn't. But these are the kind of guys Marvel is getting for their films. You don't need to be a big name to have talent.

Blame FOX for Story if you want to blame someone (Ratner is a big director, so X3 doesn't count).

So all other directors not named Spielberg, Jackson, Scott, and Peterson are skimps? Jeez you must have high standards

Oh yeah and I was even thinking of Indiana Jones till you brought up Nazis.... well you know Advanced Dark is pretty high on these comic films... but Spielberg??? Cmon are we that trivial? Just a little too much wishful thinking there...

Interesting. I would've never picked him myself until Stardust. It atleast looks as though he can handle the fantasy genre well.

Paul Walker does, indeed, suck.

I'm sure they'll get an oscar nominee, or winner for Thor. Just like with Iron Man and Hulk.

I'm struggling to think of an oscar nominee or winner who meets the physical criteria for Thor to be honest.

I think Spielberg would be PERFECT for Cap! And think about it, a superhero flic would be right up his alley and he hasn't done one yet? Almost like he and Cap were waiting for each other! Having him direct and making it a period piece would go a long way towards having it be more accepted by the world at large in light of the overall negative view of America at present!

Bring it on, Steve!:woot:

I don't think he exists. I'm thinking an unknown for the role - 'cause I don't think there's anyone else.

An Oscar nominee/winner for Donald Blake or Loki, maybe. But not Thor.

Sure there is. to be honest, nearly anyone could work for Thor, physically. As long as they grow their hair out, bleach it blonde if need be, and work out sufficiently.

I mean it really could be anyone: Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Whalberg, Heath Ledger, Matt Dillon, Clive Owen... Anyone, really.

It's really more a matter of who wants the role and is passionate about the character.

Screw Thor, Loki, and Odin! I wanna know who'll be Sif.:cwink: :woot:

That's not entirely true. You have to take body types into account. Brandon Routh has a naturally small frame. When they sent him to the gym, he got bigger and more cut, but there were still plenty of complaints about him being too small to play Superman.

We don't need someone who's already huge to play Thor, but we do need someone with broad shoulders and a more mesomorphic body.

True.

My point is, really, there are a LOT of people that could play Thor, and play him well. Don't be afraid to think outside of the box, and remember that once someone has grown their hair out long, and especially if they end up going with the facial hair of Ultimate Thor, they can take on a very different look. Look at Viggo Mortenson for instance. His look changed drastically when he grew his hair and beard out for Lord of the Rings.

Here's a good choice of casting if Beta Ray Bill is going to be in the film. Please note that the paparazzi are really crazy in this shot. They do anything to get a photo, even physically holding down an actor. This camel actor is always chased around by the press and never gets any privacy. I think he would be a prime choice as Beta Ray Bill:

Honestly, I would just go with Jason Lewis for this if He-Man isn't getting off the ground. He's got the acting ability, he looks like the damn character. You really don't need too much skill to talk like a Shakesperian nut.

How big do you think Thor will be portrayed? In the comics, he's HUGE. Like, bodybuilder huge. Christian Bale himself would have trouble matching Thor's physique to a T.

1. I'm not saying I want HHH to play Thor. Just a gut feeling Marvel MIGHT explore that.

2. STOP WITH THE CAPTAIN AMERICA TALK, THIS IS A THOR THREAD.

Why? Marvel isn't going after people like that for their roles. They have been gunning for quality actors.
