We will be doing VS. battles for the MCU every week and will be using the Winners and Losers to create an accurate power tier list created by some of it's biggest fans (you). So don't forget to VOTE and after voting for a Winner please include a comment on which power tier, both the Winner and Loser should reside within. Also, see below for more details on the characters abilities as well as for a list of available power tiers to choose from.

Don't forget to put which Tier group you think Dormammu and Thanos (w/ Filled Infinity Gauntlet) belong to in your posts.
Also, don't forget I've now added the option of being able to change your vote if you change your mind.

This battle takes place at the edge of EACH of their dimensions so both are at full power! So, without further delay here is this week's match up.

Vs.

THANOS (W/ FILLED INFINITY GAUNTLET)

giphy.gif

DORMAMMU

- Dark Dimensional Manipulation
: As the absolute ruler of the Dark Dimension, Dormammu has absolute control over the Dark Dimension, with the dimension itself warping to form his face and even form other body parts, such as a hand. He uses the dimension's power as a weapon, utilizing it to constantly kill Doctor Strange over and over again, either with energy blasts or by manipulating the very ground he stood on, when the latter trapped him in an infinite time loop using the Time Stone. His influence also stretched beyond the confines of his realm to those who used his power, such as the Zealots, which caused their deformities. He was also able to rapidly turn his followers into decayed, fossil like figures with glowing red symbols of the Dark Dimension on their heads, before making them fly up into the Dark Dimension.

-
Power Bestowal: Dormammu bestowed mystical powers to Kaecilius and his Zealots from the Dark Dimension, making them powerful enough to challenge the strength of the Ancient One herself. They notably gained the ability to fold space without being inside the Mirror Dimension, which allowed them to form Space Shards. However, his bond to his followers also allowed him to absorb them into his Dark Dimension at will, causing them to rapidly turn into decayed, fossil like figures with glowing red symbols of the Dark Dimension on their heads.

- Immense Strength
: Dormammu possesses immeasurable levels of strength due to his size and spacial warping abilities, shown when he manifested a colossal hand to easily crush Dr. Strange as if he were an insect.

-
Immortality: The Dark Dimension is a timeless entity, thereby resulting in Dormammu being a primordial immortal, with the Ancient One describing him as a precursor to time itself.

THANOS (W/ FILLED INFINITY GAUNTLET)

- Nigh-Omnipotence
: With all six Infinity Stone in the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos gains nearly omnipotent levels of power, with control over all six aspects of existence, making him the most powerful being in all of the universe and wielding such near-limitless levels of power that allows him to do almost anything he desires. His power is so great that even while considerably injured, he still was capable of wiping out half of the universe with a simple snap of his fingers. With this level of power, Thanos is almost invincible, to the point that the only way to subdue him is for the gauntlet to be removed, which will take away his power or if a sufficiently powerful being wielding a sufficiently powerful weapon were to surprise Thanos, as Thor wielding the Stormbreaker managed to injure Thanos and Thanos said that Thor may have killed him had he aimed for Thanos' head.

- Energy Manipulation: After inserting the Power Stone into his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos acquires complete control over the destructive force of the universe. Due to his strong understanding and familiarity with the Stone's powers, he is capable of manipulating the Stone's destructive energy for a wide plethora of versatile and dangerous capabilities, with the Stone becoming among his most versatile and often-used in combat methods for its destructive potential.

- Space Manipulation: After inserting the Space Stone into his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos acquires the stone's complete control over space and due to his full understanding of the Space Stone's powers, is capable of expertly using the stone's dominion over space to achieve a wide plethora of potent and dangerous capabilities.

-
Reality Manipulation: After inserting the Reality Stone into his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos acquires complete control over reality. His skill in using the Reality Stone is more advanced, capable of skillfully warp reality more powerfully than Malekith's display of the Stone's power over reality, achieving numerous powerful capabilities.

- Soul Containment
: The Soul Stone contains a mysterious pocket dimension that contains the soul of Gamora, as she is the one he sacrificed to obtain the Stone, and the dimension would pull Thanos to it. The dimension seems to change to fit the form that Thanos most wanted to see, after wiping out half of all life in the Universe, the sheer energy required to achieve such a feat in his weakened state nearly overwhelmed Thanos, and briefly sent him into a dream state caused by the Soul Stone itself, transporting his mind to a world consisting of a barren, infinite expanse of feet-high water under an orange sky. Within the Soulworld, Thanos saw himself as without the Gauntlet or his injuries sustained from Stormbreaker. Before returning to his senses, he was briefly able to communicate with a reflection of his deceased daughter, Gamora, standing under a Zen-Whoberi gateway in the form of the young child. Gamora takes on an appearance of when Thanos first met and adopted her, telling her of his final fulfillment of his lifelong goal.

-
Time Manipulation: After inserting the Time Stone into his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos acquires complete control over time, allowing him to control time itself by manifesting mystical green runes of energy surrounding the user's arm and wrist before finally conjuring a green, circular mandala made of energy in the palm of his hand. He was able to be far more capable and familiar in using the Time Stone's powers than Doctor Strange.

Strange beaten him with just a time stone so Thanos with full IG should too.

This is probably the toughest fight yet, purely because we have no real idea what the extent of MCU Dormammu's power is yet. I imagine in the Dark Dimension, he may have a similar kind of omnipotent power that Thanos with the completed gauntlet does in our dimension.

Dormammu vs. Doctor Strange and the time stone took place in our dimension, which is exactly how Strange defeated him, because Dormammu's dimension has no concept of time like ours does. If the fight takes place on the edge of both dimensions and both Thanos plus gauntlet and Dormammu are at full power, I genuinely don't know which way it would go. Do the infinity stones even have any power in the Dark Dimension? Is Dormammu weaker in our dimension?

I genuinely don't know how to vote in this. :funny:

Strange actually explicitly says he brought the power of time to the fight with Dormammu. This seems to indicate the fight took place in the Dark Dimension.

You're right, for some reason I thought it took place in our dimension, but now I remember Strange flying through the weird, trippy landscape of the Dark Dimension to face Dormammu. So maybe Thanos does have the edge then... But Dormammu has already been defeated with the time stone once, would he really allow it to happen again or would he take counter-measures to make sure Thanos can't defeat him in the same way?

I still think this is difficult to answer because we have no real idea of what Dormammu can actually do and the extent of his powers.

With the gauntlet? Thanos pretty easily. Not saying Dormammu is a slouch but if the time stone was able to contain him, the reality and power stones will stop him completely.

Thanos with a filled gauntlet. With less stones it might get more interesting.

Thanos destroyed half of existence with only a thought. Dormammu is the next closest thing we have seen to being at that power level, but still I think he is considerably lower than Thanos with all the Stones. Perhaps closer to Thanos with 3 of the Stones or something to that effect. Also for people saying Dr. Strange beat Dormammu with the time stone, I don't really see it that way. Dr. Strange lost to Dormammu over and over again countless times and Dormammu was going to be stuck being Victorious in battle for all of Eternity. So he decided to give up so he could release himself from the time loop that he was finding annoying. However, at no point was Dr. Strange going to defeat Dormammu or overpower him. I am sorry losing for eternity in my book just does not equate to winning. Now if Dr. Strange went back in the time loop a billion times and even 1 time he would have overpowered Dormammu then I say Dr. Strange wins. But thats not the case. So while it was clever story telling, I never felt like Dr. Strange won as much as Dormammu got tired of winning.

At least thats how I see it.

Location is everything for this one.

I think if the fight took place in the Dark Dimension that Dormammu, where his powers are effectively limitless (other than mastery of time....because there isn't any) would prevail - unless Thanos specifically used the time stone (but even then Strange was only able to stalemate Dormammu, not actually defeat him).

If the fight happened in our universe, where Dormammu doesn't have unlimited power......Thanos has a chance.

For some reason I just like Dormammu in this one.

The loss to Strange was something I always seen as more tactical error by Dormammu, we never seen any way where Strange could actually hurt him if im wrong someone please correct me.

Thanos although insanely powerful with a full gauntlet still had limits he was out matched by Stormbreaker. It was shown clearly he could be killed.

Where as for Dormammu I keep thinking about this "The Dark Dimension is a timeless entity, thereby resulting in Dormammu being a primordial immortal, with the Ancient One describing him as a precursor to time itself."

If you exist prior to the infinity stones would they be as effective against him?

Dormammu was bested (or I should say outwitted) by just 1 stone. Let alone someone having all of them. Thanos wins, or at the very least he walks away from the conflict with whatever he wants out of it.

I said it takes place on the edge of both universes so both combatants can be at full power.

It's in huge letters in the opening post.

Thanos wins because of how powered up he is but I could see Dormammu winning if Thanos isn't smart enough to use the stones to their full ability.

Yeah I read that bit, but what I'm saying to you is that it depends where the actual fight takes place.....unless you're suggesting that they stand on the event horizon between our universe and the Dark Dimension and throw moons at each other.

If Thanos can draw Dormammu into our universe, where thr stones can twist the laws of physics to his will he will likely prevail, and vice versa for Dormammu who commands the entire dimension itself. The Infinty Stones are unlikely to equal Dormammu's raw might inside the Dark Dimension, and time stone only stalemated him - not a defeat.
