Homecoming MCU Spider-Man Trilogy Ideas

I posted this in the main Spider-Man thread and was advised to post it here in this thread. :)

~

I've been thinking about how Marvel Studios and Sony could plan out the MCU Spider-Man series, and I think I came up with a general arc trajectory that might make for a pretty great Spidey series! :mnm:

Spider-Man (2017) - I don't have much of an actual storyline for this particular film. It's a John Hughes high school comedy combined with a superhero story, pitting Peter up against Mysterio. MJ is the only one who knows that Peter is Spider-Man and acts as his confidant through out the film, akin to the USM comics. Peter has a rocky mother-son relationship with Aunt May.

Spider-Man 2 (2019/2020) - I'm going to guess that Peter will wind up getting the Symbiote costume while he's out in space during either Part 1 or 2 of Infinity War. But rather than introduce Venom here, let's save him for later... This film is largely a retelling of "Kraven's Last Hunt," while also implementing elements from the earlier parts of the Symbiote Arc. It should also set up some sort of relationship between Peter and Eddie during the film, whether it's as old friends (a la USM) or as rivals like in the 616 universe.

Once Peter gets buried alive, Kraven makes his own cloth replica of the Symbiote costume and parades around NYC as an even more violent Spidey than Peter has been lately (due to the influences of the Symbiote). Since Peter is still in high school, Aunt May is searching for Peter and assumes that he's been kidnapped. MJ is trying to figure out what the hell is going on with Peter and soon figures out that it's not him as Spider-Man, thus begins searching for him herself.

Meanwhile the Symbiote is actually keeping Peter alive while he's six feet under and plays a part in his "rebirth" sequence, giving him boosted strength as he digs himself out of the grave. Peter gets too violent while he's confronting Kraven and MJ has to stop him from killing Kraven. Peter ultimately decides to remove the Symbiote, while Kraven commits suicide. The post-credits scene is Eddie Brock finding the Symbiote.

Spider-Man 3 (2021/2022) - Venom time, baby. Peter is either a senior in high school or a freshman in college. His friendship with MJ has developed to a point where the romantic tensions are high and we now get a "Will they, won't they" sub-plot between the two.

We continue to see more of that relationship (be it good or bad) between Peter and Eddie, while Peter is trying to solve a mystery of who a supposed Spider-Man imposter is (fyi it's Venom).

~

Obviously my main ideas are more in regard to the second film in the trilogy, but I'll be coming back to this over the next few days and keep hammering away at the first and third stories.

You gotta admit though; combining Kraven's Last Hunt with the early Symbiote era is a kickass idea! :hmr:

Nice job, man!

I also have Kraven planned for the sequel as well, but not so much using the Kraven's Last Hunt arc. :cwink:

Thanks! It is a bit of an unconventional pick to adapt KLH with a young Peter, considering how his new marriage to MJ is a pretty important element of the original story, but I think it could work as long as you still have MJ playing a big role in the story. :cwink:

Marvel's Spider-Man

Mysterio-vs-Spider-Man-spider-man-villains-770090_260_237.jpg

Spider-Man: The New Avenger (2017) - Peter Parker walks a fine line, balancing his life as a high school student and the responsibilities that come with being a crime fighting superhero. But in order to defend the very city he has vowed protection over, Spider-Man must confront his biggest challenge yet - Mysterio.

(note: the film above is the only one I could come up with a synopsis for)

Here's the rest of my personal slate:

- Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt (2019)

- Spider-Man: Venom (2021)

- The Spectacular Spider-Man (2023)
Doc Ock as villain
- Web Of Spider-Man (2025)
Classic GG as villain. Gwen dies.
- Spider-Man: The Clone Saga Part I (2027)

- Spider-Man: The Clone Saga Part II (2028)

- The Sensational Spider-Man (2030)
Vulture, Rhino, and Scorpion as villains. Set-up to S6.
- Spider-Man: The Sinister Six Part I (2032)
A group of vengeance-seeking villains the likes of Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Sandman, Kraven, Electro, and Green Goblin are brought together to plot against Spidey. Vulture, Rhino, and Scorpion ask to help, but are turned down and written off as mediocre, second-rate crooks. Carnage, Venom, and Black Cat battle it out at one point in the film and are given an epic 15-20 minute action sequence. The fight ends with Black Cat and Venom becoming allies. At the request of Otto Octavius, Chameleon steals highly-guarded equipment from Oscorp.
- Spider-Man: The Sinister Six Part II (2033)
Kraven is killed by Norman when he begins to turn against the team. Sandman realizes that Osborn is nothing but a twisted maniac with an evil, hidden agenda and jumps ship. He teams up with Spidey, Venom, and Black Cat to stop the newly-formed S6 (or S8): Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Mysterio, Scorpion, Vulture, Rhino, and Carnage, whom they discover has plans of his own to wipe out New York with the help of a self-spawned, MASSIVE SYMBIOTE ARMY.

I wouldn't mind seeing the title as:

The Marvelous Spider-Man

beheheh

I don't want the stories of Spidey or any character in the MCU being hindered with a trilogy in mind.

With school letting out soon, I'm hoping to have time to finally write an expanded treatment for my proposed trilogy! You all have some great ideas, I may borrow a few of them. :woot:

Well they need to first have each film be its own self contained story. But Lau the seeds and what not of a over arching story over multi films ie the solo films, other mcu films, aos/netflix shows.

They should not do the same problem sony did with asm. Try to build up to many things to fast. Need to slowly build up things. Like how the mcu has been going.

My idea of Spiderman, is certainly, a lot more tonal than what we seen thus far...take place in between Gwen death and before meeting MJ...obviously, he would be in casual flings with other well known characters in his friends lore.

There would be a reason for the statement, by JJJ, of the "Mask Menace"...because he would flirt with crossing the line of being a dangerous vigilante....a friend or villain, if you will. The villains would most certainly not be watered down...they would be what you expect from a villain with powers...something that has to be seriously dealt with. As you have seen, in similar short stories, I have already written...and background would jive with today's era, in this modern, technological, knowledgeable, digital world we live in...progressing to the not to distant future.

Spiderman wouldn't necessarily be your "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man ", but he would start, eventually, to be recognize as a friend to those victimized by the criminal element, poised with special abilities or not. The film trilogy, would certainly be more tonal than the five films we've seen thus far...approaching the likes of Nolan's series; but, never reaching that level of that tone. I know many would say, that's not Spidey...I sincerely disagree...I am a fan of Todd McFarlane, and tone he established. I know I'm a rare breed, cause so many seem to dislike TM style...I, for one, have always wanted to see TM version on the silver screen.

One very well respected poster, that many of you appreciate & follow, once ask me, who I like more...Ram's or Webb's adaptions...I said, I like the tone & the portrayal of Peter better in Webb, but like the villains & overall story better from Raimi. Not that I'm picking both sides...they both have + & -; but, truly honestly, I have always wanted more...and have stated that millions of times. I prefer a TM style Spider-Man on the big screen; and, when I write stories, it's geared more to that line of approach.

So now, hopefully, you all have a better understanding what I would like to see. Wish the Russo Brothers was doing Spidey...they would probably come closest to what I envision.

First off welcome to the Hype! I live maybe an hour away from Wilmington. :yay:

I really dig your ideas for an MCU Spider-Man trilogy. My idea for the first movie would be to have Kingpin hire Vulture to take out Spider-Man, but that's just my personal preference, nothing against Mysterio. Also I'd go ahead and introduce Brock from the very beginning just like the '90s animated series.

I wouldn't change a thing about your proposal for a second solo. Excellent idea. I love the thought of using the symbiote in Kraven's Last Hunt. The symbiote has been known to allow its host to swim underwater, so it should have no problem keeping Peter alive underground. I'd love to see that moment on the big screen.

Venom time, baby indeed. No other villains. Spidey vs. Venom one on one. That should be what a possible trilogy builds up to. Have Brock stalk Peter throughout the movie and Venom traumatize MJ. Spider-Man tempts the symbiote to rebond with him and the shock of trying to separate kills both Brock and symbiote.

I'd like to hear who you think should or would like to see play Venom. What do you think of Jensen Ackles?

Dude, that's awesome! :highfive: Thanks for the warm welcome, man!

I agree that Brock should be present from the start, actually! Especially if they were to go for a more Ultimate Spider-Man approach with Eddie being Peter's old childhood friend. That would give Peter and Eddie's relationship more emotional ground to work with in later films.

I like the idea of having Kingpin involved, but I don't think we'll see him in the movies anytime soon. I'd certainly be open to having Vulture instead of Mysterio. If we were to get Vulture, we'd probably have Norman Osborn playing the puppet-master in the background.

Exactly! One of the big rules of thumb with filmmaking is "show, don't tell." I think having Peter in a scenario where the only thing keeping him alive is the Symbiote is a great way to demonstrate what the alien is capable of and also can give insight into Peter's relationship with it. After all, the Symbiote legitimately loves Peter in its own twisted way.

Moreover I like the idea of having Peter out-of-commission for a portion of the movie and allow characters like MJ and Aunt May to be more pro-active and relevant to the ongoing plot. It'd be a fantastic way to show how the two most important ladies in Peter's life (along with Gwen) are just as heroic in their own way as Peter, regardless of their lack of powers.

Plus, I think there could be a great "mirroring" effect by first showing Peter becoming progressively more violent with the Symbiote and then having Kraven stealing away the mantel of Spider-Man and perverting the role even further, thus ultimately leading Peter to having to part ways with the Symbiote and begin anew.

I definitely agree that Spidey vs. Venom should be a one villain only film. However I could potentially see a movie working out with both Venom and Carnage, provided that it was made with the intent of Venom being more of an anti-hero character who is Spidey's initial conflict in the film. That route could work if they go for a more USM-esque approach to Peter and Eddie's relationship.

Jensen Ackles could definitely work, but I'm not sure they'd go for him, considering we're getting a much younger Peter. He could work if they went for a more traditional 616-universe Eddie though.

I want a Spidey trilogy without romance at all. Spidey has such a awesome world with great supporting characters that deserve their big screen break, and the Spidey romance has been done so often that it has gotten old and boring. Hope they stay away from romance for as long as possible, I personally wouldn't introduce MJ/Gwen/Any love interest anytime soon.

Amen to silencing the romance. I understand that there's definitely a demographic out there that really enjoyed all the chemistry between Garfield and Stone... However, let's keep this one Spider-Man focused.

I don't want villains killed off. I hate to see that. And so far mcu has a bad habit of offing villains. Spideys should not be killed. Just locked up to return some day in the future.

If sony is so adamant about making a shared spiderman universe, then they should consider the spin offs being a venom franchise, and doing a crossover story with Spiderman 2099 movie. All while existing in the mcu.
Im not big on a sinister 6 movie, although I'd rather have that than a black cat movie or whatever else they were wanting.

Come I I serious doubt sony original spin off plans are even on the table any more. We first need to set spidry straight and have a good film.

So serious I doubt any of there original plans are in works now with marvel in the picture. Just do spidey right. And forget spinoffs.

If they want to keep any of there pre marvel plans in tact. They can do it with animated film.

I'd rather see the 616 version with Brock and Peter being rivals from the start. Either way you're right, it would be more emotional ground to work with later.

I'm not sure what Marvel's plans are as far as Daredevil Season 2 is concerned, but having Kingpin involved just seems too good to pass up. I know it wasn't possible before when Fox owned the rights to Daredevil and Sony was making Spidey films before the MCU even existed, but why not now? Kingpin was an enemy of both Daredevil and Spider-Man in the comics so that would be nice to see done in the MCU movies and Netflix shows and one way to connect Daredevil to the larger scale MCU as well as Spidey to the street level MCU. It's just like doing Infinity War without introducing the symbiote; another huge missed opportunity. Plus, it's something different and fresh from Goblins involved or Osborn pulling the strings.

Having him out of commission for part of the movie could be similar to Batman being gone in The Dark Knight Rises. I'd personally devote that time to Brock's fall from grace.

I definitely agree that Spidey vs. Venom should be a one villain only film. I really don't care for Carnage, but if they want to do an Agent Venom spin-off with Flash as the new host of the symbiote, it might be a good idea to use Carnage as the villain.

I've always imagined Brock being in his late 30s/early 40s so Jensen would be ideal if they go for a 616-universe Venom.

SO, I've finished the in-depth outline for first part of my Spider-man fan trilogy, if any of you would like to read it:
Marvel’s Spider-man
-We open with a self-narrated sequence showing Spidey’s origin, including the events of Civil War. This fades into the title sequence.
-Post title sequence a montage of Spidey fighting various bad guys begins. Mostly generic thugs, with maybe a few “names” like Boomerang thrown in for kicks and giggles. We follow him to school, just in time for his classes to begin.
-At school, we meet Peter’s circle of friends: Suave rich kid Harry Osborne, clumsy prankster Kenny Kong, gentle giant Randy Robertson and his Jr. Reporter girlfriends Glory Grant, and Pete’s shy rival intellect: Gwen Stacy. They all are, of course, bullied by Flash and co., including one Mary Jane Watson.
-After school, Pete and his friends hang out to study and discuss a coveted internship under Professor Otto Octavious, world-renowned radiation and robotics genius. Gwen has a police moniter her dad gave her to stay away from danger. Peter runs off when he overhears an alert.
-We meet Captain Stacy at the scene of the crime, a robbery at a mechanics werehouse. Spidey makes swift work of the thugs, but one, Herman Schultz, gets away with the loot.
-Peter goes home, we meet Aunt May. She’s worried about Peter putting himself n harm’s way for pictures.
-Herman Schultz evades the police as he retreats with the stolen tech to a shadowy hideout. Here we meet Mysterio, a flamboyant, narcissistic ex-actor with a scheme to become a top-paid mercenary overnight. Schultz goes to work incorporating the new tech into his boss’s arsenal of gadgets.
-The next day, Peter delivers pictures of the previous fight to the Bugle. The staff there is introduced. J.J.J. is late to his club, and has no time to deal with Parker.
-We follow J.J.J. and Robbie to their exclusive club and meet the other members, including Captain Stacy and illustrious industrial C.E.O. Norman Osborne. They discuss Spider-man. JJ and Norman are against him, Robbie and Cpt. Stacy favor him. Norman points out that under the S.R.A., which he helps run, Spider-man is an outlaw. The Captain acknowledges this, and admits he may one day have to arrest Spidey, then changes the conversation to the new upstart rival to OsCorp, Kingsley Industries.
-At the High School, Glory announces she has reporting duties and can’t compete in the groups bowling championship. Thankfully, Harry announces he has a new date who can fill the slot on their team.
-More “domestic scenes” between Peter and Aunt May. He admits his crush on Gwen, and May consoles him, encouraging him to be more outgoing, unlike his Dad, who waited around until someone (Pete’s Mom) finally asked him.
-On Bowling Night, Peter’s team is up against Flash’s. Liz Kingsley-Allen, daughter of the founder of Kingsley Industries, arrives as Harry’s date, immediately garnering the attention of the guys on Flash’s team. They bowl, and the “Geek Squad” wins. They celebrate, MJ slaps Flash for staring at Liz, and Harry, having noticed Pete’s crush, gives him flirting tips. Liz reveals she got tickets for the whole team to attend her father’s upcoming speech at the university.
-Far away in a seedy part of town, Herman Schultz has an appointment with Silvermane, the “new Kingpin”. Mysterio makes a dramatic entry and full suit, but Silvermane is not impressed. He picks apart the entire act, BUT then states that “most people aren’t as smart as me” and agrees to write out a large contract for a series of “impossible crimes”.
-Peter and co. go to the university to hear Roderick Kingsley speak. He is introduced by Prof. Octavious. Liz gets bored by her Dad’s “inspirational tropes”, so she and Harry sneak off for a “heart to heart” talk. They discuss the Osborne’s tragic history, with implications that the accidents that killed off the rest of the family were suspicious. Liz also reveals she knows Norman set the two of them up, but went along with it because she likes Harry. Meanwhile, Peter remains in the crowd, awkwardly trying to flirt with Gwen.
-Herman Schultz is also in attendance, carefully keeping track of time. At one certain moment, he and several other thugs put on masks and fog begins to fill the room. Mysterio’s attack begins.
-Peter changes to Spider-man, but falls prey to Mysterio’s illusions and is unable to stop him. He gets all the civilians to safety, including Gwen, whom he mistakenly calls by her first name. Mysterio and his gang gets away with their loot.
-Over the next week, Mysterio and his gang instill a reign of terror over the city, pulling off a series of impossible heists that leave countless citizens traumatized and afraid to step outside. This crime wave keeps both Captain Stacy and Peter very busy, and Aunt May very worried.
-For the first time, a civilian is killed during a job. Schultz shows remorse, but is mocked for it my Mysterio, who reiterates that you can’t let anyone stand in your way if you want to be the best.
-Cpt. Stacy has imposed a strict curfew on Gwen to keep her off the streets, but she sneaks out to tag along on a double-date with Harry/Liz and Randy/Glory. It turns out that Randy and Glory aren’t there, but instead Peter is in their place. Things are very awkward and Pete makes a fool of himself until the alert comes on again and he runs off to “take pictures”.
-The previous scene is intercut with Captain Stacy, who is called upon to introduce “The Club” to its newest member: Roderick Kingsley. There is clear animosity between the upstart entrepreneur Kingsley and Norman, who took his inherited company to the top of the business. Kingsley clearly doesn’t approve of their kids dating. When the alarm sounds, Cpt. Stacy has to run.
-Finally he makes it to one of the heists in time, he is unable to get to Mysterio, but manages to capture one of his goons, making off with some tech to study.
-Gwen attempts to sneak back into her home, only to be caught by her Dad, who scolds her. “Keeping her safe is his number 1 job”.
-Deep in Mysterio’s lair, he plans his biggest heist of all. A prototype machine at OsCorp could easily become a WMD in the wrong hands, and Silverman plans to sell it to one of his overseas terrorist clients. Again, Schultz expresses reluctance to go along, but is bullied into it by Mysterio and they begin planning
-Aunt May offers words of wisdom to Peter about his so-called “social failings” while he analyzes the tech, finally discovering the key to beating Mysterio.
-The night of The Big Job, Liz comes over to Oscorp for dinner with Harry and Norman. The aloof Norman awkwardly attempts to make small talk, only managing to be wildly inappropriate. His comments enrage Kingsley, who is listening in over a bug he planted on Liz. Things get worse when Norman starts prying Liz for industrial secrets. Kingsley, meanwhile, starts hacking OsCorp through the bug. (If you look closely, you can see some Goblin-esque schematics) All this comes to a jarring start when Mysterio raids Oscorp Tower.
-With the police busy as everything from a T-Rex to the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man terrorizes NYC, Mysterio and his gang easily take over the Tower, with Norman, Harry, and Liz as hostages. Harry falls apart under pressure, infuriating Norman. Mysterio and Shocker unlock the weapon, but Mysterio announces the plans have changed. He kills Silvermane’s liaison in the gang and projects a giant version of himself above the Tower, detailing the weapon’s power and that he is now holding the entire city of New York at ransom.
-With the police surrounding Oscorp Tower and the governor and President on the phone, Spidey infiltrates the Tower in a Bond/Mission Impossible style sequence. He rescues Liz, the Osbornes, and the other hostages before using his new understanding of the tech to take out Mysterio, with a little help from Schultz, who sabotages both Mysterio’s suit and the bomb before running off into the night.
-Mysterio is arrested and life is back to “normal” for Peter, in fact, it’s better than ever! His pictures of the showdown with Mysterio fetch a high paycheck at the Bugle (Eddie Brock is mentioned), he lands the Octavious internship, and he gets up the nerve to ask Gwen out. On the way to her house, they bump into each other. He asks her out and she declares he’s Spider-man simultaneously. They both say yes and smile as the movie closes.
-Post Credits Scene: Schultz is back in Silvermane’s office. He won his way back into the gangsters good graces by building a series of suits for Silvermane’s new project: “The Enforcers”. He asks to lead the squad, but is shot down. “There’s a new player in town”. Look out the window to the Hobgoblin perched outside on his glider, red eyes glowing in the dark.

Quite a good read, man.
