Red Skull, The Winter Soldier...

and while not soldiers there's of course Iron Man and Spider Man - I rewatched CW last night and Cap beats Spidey pretty easily.

Winning this fight aside, I vastly prefer Holland's Spidey because he really is just a kid, and a screw up, but still really likeable - he's not as awkward or mopey as Maguire or as irritating and smug as Garfield ( who was better as Spidey IMO in TASM 2).

In some ways that's Holland's advantage. Cap and the others are less likely to feel threatened by him, or feel the urge to stomp his face into the ground.

I think folks here are vastly underselling how much of a threat BP is. with his new suit there is literally nothing the Spideys can do to harm him other than temporarily web him up. Beacause his claws are on his fingers they have a huge range of movement and because they're vibranium they're going to shred webbing easily.

Im not sold on Winter Soldier he seemed to be handling him and Falcon pretty easily before Red Wing got him out of there.

I get what you mean more now though. The way you had written powered people and then separately listed enemy soldiers made me think you were grouping regular Nazi soldiers as a worthy feat to beat Spider-man lol.

I loved the ending reveal with Aunt May !

I really hate that they did that.

This is meant to be the woman who raised Peter, the person he wants to protect more than anyone else but also the one he least wants to learn the truth. He has no idea how he'll react, what she'll think of the truth that he could've stopped Uncle Ben's killer and whether she'll be able to cope when he carries on risking his life.

The comics spent four decades building up to that reveal:

The Ultimate Spider-Man comics kept it a secret for 100 issues then they nailed it:

The PS4 game made it the climax of the whole story (major spoiler warning):

And instead of following in those footsteps the MCU writers use May as a background character whosee only memorable moments are a bunch of "surprisingly hot Aunt" jokes then they make her learning the truth a throwaway joke where she says 'what the f***" and then the credits roll. The more I think about it the more I dislike that film, Marvel really need to up their game with Far From Home.

Well my friend, this is something we will just have to agree to disagree on....although with regards to Homecoming the weight of critical and financial success come down on my side in terms of it being one of the best Spider films - as such, if Marvel merely maintains the level of game they displayed in Homecoming, then FFH will be a winnner.

Looks that way, glad you enjoyed Homecoming more than I did. Also, don't get me wrong, it's a pretty well written/well paced 7 out of 10 film and if I wasn't such a huge Spidey fan I'd be happy enough with that.

I don't think it's controversial to say there's room for improvement with Far From Home. Homecoming was a success but not an incredible success. Critics liked it but they weren't giving it five stars and the Raimi films were more successful financially. Most fans seem to consider it a good film but not the best MCU film or even the best Spider-Man adaptation.

I'm not the only fan disappointed they made Peter less of a hero or that they didn't do a great job with his supporting cast so hopefully Marvel's listening. If nothing else, having him grow up, rely less on others (e.g. build his own tech) and become a better, more fleshed out hero is the obvious character arc to take him on anyway.

Just re-watched Spider Man 2 and Black Panther. Spidey tags Dock Ock ( a mere human) a bunch of times with blows to the head but can't KO him ( and Maguire is arguably the strongest Spidey). Panther, Cap and Bucky are much, much tougher ( although they only have 2 arms each) if he can't put away Dock Ock then he's going to struggle with the super soldiers and the guy in the vibranium suit.
