Sequels MCU X-Men storylines

Xavier's Institute in the MCU. School with younger students/X-men as teachers or nah?

I vote the latter.

Depends how much focus would be on the younger students. If the majority of missions were still the older X-Men I'd be cool with it. If the focus would primarily be on the younger X-Men while the main X-Men take the mentor backseat then nah.

I would want the MCU to just knock it out of the park with the main X-Men like Cyc and Storm as marketable leads first and foremost. Make audiences care about them like the rest of their hero's. Would like to see Emma incorporated heavily as well, but maybe more hellion/rival school wise as opposed to Hellfire. I'd be cool with that just being her background and not being shown.

Since we'll likely get the FF and the X-Men entering the fray at the same time, I'm interested in how they might contrast the FF being superhero celebrities with their logo on the side of the building vs the X-Men who have to keep their doings under wraps.

Also, I just realized something about Cyclops. He's typically portrayed as this stiff, by-the-book type (with Wolverine as the charming, brooding rogue), but nobody seems to talk about him as a romantic. Maybe because, even in that regard, he's a fairly conventional male lead.

But it could make for a fresh angle on the character to show him coming into his own as this charming swashbuckler in addition to being a great leader, rather than giving all that fun stuff to Wolverine. :cyclops:

What are your reasons for preferring not to have it? (out of interest)

I prefer with just12 to 25 mutants in the mansion. Pre-Grant Morrison days. The x-mansion would feel more intimate. I don't need to see Psylocke and company teaching in a mutant school. I prefer them as squads, going in and out for missions.

I wouldn't want them to start with a ridiculous amount. I'd prefer numbers were limited in the early days too.

Yeah, keep them feeling lonely. At least at the start. It's what made the xmen special to me. Taking all the outsiders and making them a family

I wonder if marvel would be brave enough to show a gay iceman. I mean they're owned by Disney who are incredibly gay friendly. Surely they can do better than the weak moment power rangers had where they couldn't make it more ambiguous

Sadly, its kind of doubtful so long as an openly gay main character leads to bans from several major overseas markets. If it were a smaller scale movie, sure, but I can't see Disney making the core X-Men movies as anything but AAA tentpoles. If you want Gay Iceman, you'll have to hope they use him in a small budget "Class of X" teen drama spinoff set at the Academy, or some such.

As for "school or no school", I think the school as an actual school is now a fairly iconic part of the mythos, even if it wasn't originally. That said, the emphasis should be on the team, not the students, at least at first. Have the X-Men act as primary superheroes in their first movie or two, with the fact that they work at the school as backdrop, if important backdrop. This gives the side benefit of an easy way to slot your pick of big heroes into X-Men *spinoffs*, since any such spinoff that involves the school could have Cyclops or Storm or Colossus appear in their teacher-ly role as supporting cast.

Its only iconic because of the films which influenced the comics since then. I don't see why MCU wouldn't change it up for their version.

I loved the world that Singer created for the filmverse and along with that making Xavier's Institute into a school. X2 remains my favourite superhero/action/genre movie.

That said, the primary goal of a revived X-men film *should be* to make lead characters out of the X-men: Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Wolvie.

I think having them as teachers *too* distracts from that. In sequels, sure you can delve into that eventually. Even as a Rogue fan, I can wait for an eventual sequel to see her too. I don't need her to be a founding member, maybe even give her the reformed Brotherhood member role.

I suspect they'll do what Ultimate X-Men and Evolution did where about a handful of X-Men went to a regular school during the day but lived at the X-Mansion outside of it. I think that's how Feige will distinguish the new school from the old one. Maybe eventually they might do a full-on mutant school but I don't see it starting out that way.

Really? I reckon they'll just do a hogwarts thing where the students live and study at the school

Oh right, gotya. Thanks for explaining.

Do you mean a full-out school like Singer's or just a handful of students? If it's just a handful then . I think they'll avoid doing a full-on school to distinguish themselves from Fox's version.

A handful of students would be great to show what a pioneer Xavier is, then build it up over time to show growth

Doubt it.

My very favorite storylines Fox has already touched (in one case twice) so it would be some time if ever I see a MCU take on them, however storylines they did do that I would like to see...

Mister Sinister

Omega Red

Proteus

Savage Land and the Mutates.

I would love to see them battle the Brood.

Starjammers/Imperial Guard

Cross paths with Alpha Fight.

Have to deal with Arcade.

Battle Legion

Battle Black Tom and Juggernaut

The Hellfire Club done correctly would be great, especially if based off of 129-134, only thing is it can’t lead into Dark Phoenix but still is a cool storyline in its own right.

Battle the Purifiers

Nimrod

I know I don’t want to see Cyclops become Magneto-ish.

I know something im probably unique in feeling, I actually would like to see the team of Darwin, Sway, Petra and Kd Vulcan established or at least mentioned.

I wouldn't be surprised if an MCU version of the Phoenix saga also borrows elements from AvX, with multiple factions jockey-ing for control of the Phoenix force, not just the X-adjacent groups.

I think it should start off as a smaller school of pretty much just the team and over time get bigger as it gains more students.

The starjammers would be fun. Maybe they could start them in a guardians of the galaxy cameo and then bring them over to the x-men?

I think it would be cool to do Wolverine's origin in a Avengers movie, have Hulk go off and do his thing and run into Wolverine like in Hulk 181. Take the focus off Professor X & Magneto and have Cyclops be the true leader of the X-Men, maybe change their origins and have them be the clean up crew after Avengers Infinity War & Avengers 4, they need super human ppl to clean up the mess. The X-Men get resentful of the Avengers for bringing battles to Earth and they fight each other.

Gosh that would be ah..may...zing

They should do a Hulk versus wolverine movie! I'm sure Disney will buy the hulk license off universal very soon and be ready by then.

Plus it will be heaps better than that other versus comic book movie we saw lol

If Marvel got full rights of the Hulk in time, I would introduce Wolverine in that, inspired by Hulk 181.

For “Incredible Hulk 2” I would have Wendigo there as main badguy, Alpha Flight is not ready to roll out and Wolverine goes it alone to check it all out.
