Not usually a real big musical fan
but i must say this movie was great it was funny and entertaining
It had a great cast aswell

Funniest moments imo were
The blue blanket scene
and the hitler auditions

anyone else like this movie?

Yeah and both those scenes were better in the original.

Wilder FTW!

the remake with mathew broderick? that movie sucked. original was good **** though.

The original movie was better than the new movie.

The stage version of the musical was better than the movie verson. I saw that in previews on Broadway and laughed so much my head hurt when it was over. Plus they cut 2 of the funniest songs from the show: "King of Broadway" and "Where Did We Go Right?"

The movie is funny, but it didn't try to expand on anything from the play. Some of those jokes worked so much better live.

I enjoy the remake of the Producers, but it's definitely better onstage. Virtually all movie adaptations of musicals fall short (Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Hairspray) because the theater is something that is meant to be experienced live, with other people sharing the experience with you, whereas a movie the viewer takes in individually without the community atmosphere. Something that is spectacular to see in person looks flat when packaged and displayed on film. They're just two different beasts.

As for the two versions of the show itself, I like the script of the new version better. It flows much better than the original film, and smooths out a lot of rough areas. However, there's no denying the awesome chemistry that Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel had, and that really carries the original film much better than Broderick and Lane (who, again, did much better on stage than on film) So it's really kind of a toss-up.

I personally can't wait to see the adaptation of Young Frankenstein.

I totally agree. The comedy in that show fed so much off of the reactions from a live audience it was hard to duplicate in the film. The humor was so un-PC (bless you, Mel Brooks) and the audience reactions throughout the show were absolutely priceless. It didn't quite carry over on film, although parts of it were funny.

I'd love to see Young Frankenstein too, but the ticket prices are ridiculous. The clips I've seen so far are very funny, though. :oldrazz:
