Mel Gibson Arrested but thats not the big story, read on!

Reading the story at TMZ, it implied that the reason the "official" report was sanitized was because it would "incite anti-Jewish hatred" which would be very inflammatory considering the current Israel-Lebanon crisis. It went further to imply that the officers figured, "It's just a DUI, do his anti-semitic comments really matter?"

Too late. Remember the shootings at Seattle last week?

Arresting him for bigotry isn't easy. But if he is anti-Semitic, then that's an issue for those who wish to work with him again. If he's just a drunk then he still has a future in Hollywood.

Then just dump him like garbage and move on to more important stars. As an action hero he was nowhere as cool as Eastwood or the stars of the Magnificent Seven. As a director he still doesn't come close to the great ones. I didn't even bother with "The Passion of Christ" because I'm told that story every Easter Sunday. It's damn morbid too.

Yes, and never told properly in a visual format until his film. He went way beyond coming close to the greats when over 10 years ago with Braveheart. Noone before or after has ever acted and directed in a film on that scale that required that much from them; and Passion was the ultimate example of do it your own way regardless of what others think filmmaking, as well as untamed, non sugar-coated filmmaking at its finest, something we need alot more of (and it's a morbid story with one of the most uplifting endings, as well as meanings of any story).

Although I glossed over it. I guess the bigger story is the fact Mel has such disregard for others and himself he risks drink driving.

Guess we won't be seeing Passion 2. I want my $6.50 back from the first one.

Actually there's another studio making that now.

But I'm not a sadist. I can well imagine what Jesus went through. I've been told that story at many times.

I'm not one either, hence why I didn't enjoy it, nor was it meant to be enjoyed. I'm someone that finds the story in it's raw, untamed form far more moving than it's very sugar-coated form that robs it of its impact.

The more intense the suffering, the more intense the strength it takes to overcome it. I've been told the story many times too, and it didn't do justice to witnessing it.
I can understand why the movie wouldn't work for alot of people, I'll atleast give you credit for not bothering to see it, as opposed to the countless people that went to it and *****ed about it being precisely what they were told it would be months prior to its release.

I'm sure Leno has 20 jokes ready for tonight's episode. Maybe Corrdry will fire up the God Machine in "This Week in God". Michael Landsberg from TSN's Off the Record (who is Jewish) opened the show with a mention of Gibson; saying he's lucky a rabbi didn't rear end him when he was drunk.

I once got really drunk and made an anti-semetic remark, but it was meant to be a joke. The half-Jew didn't find it funny at all. Damn you Eric Cartman, you have warped my fragile little mind!!!

Here the thing with alcahol. It releases you from your inhibitions. I don't know if it proves Mel Gibson hates Jews. But he madly expressed such behavior.

They put the Sheeny curse on poor Mel

His picture is up on www.thesmokinggun.com

Considering he was supposed to be drunk, he doesn't quite look as bad as Nick Nolte did when he was arrested.

People need to leave Mel Gibson alone.

I think they will, now that he's shown an unfortunate side of himself.

His career could potentially be over, but we'll know more about that when Apocalypto comes out and how well it does in the box office.

Well, he shaved off his soupcatcher, that's something. Before he looked like he had a skunk's ass glued to his face.

Still - that, "What? Me worry?" expression on his face annoys me. I can see that picture being taken, and this chorus of funny trombone sounds in the background ("wah - waaaaah"), and the narrator saying: "Oh Mel! You lovable prankster! What have you gotten yourself into this week?"

Jay-Zeus! The media just can't get a decent picture of this guy! His booking photo makes him look like a psycho trying to fool us with a smile.

Public Apology

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/08/01/gibson.statement/index.html

There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge.

I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words.

The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God's child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.

I'm not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing.

I have begun an ongoing program of recovery and what I am now realizing is that I cannot do it alone. I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery. Again, I am reaching out to the Jewish community for its help. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable. But I pray that that door is not forever closed.

This is not about a film. Nor is it about artistic license. This is about real life and recognizing the consequences hurtful words can have. It's about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad.

well, from my perspective, he's right about the all the wars thing if he's talking about the recent lebnon thing.

That he is. And if there are more wars because of the Lebanon crisis, Mel is right, even if he was drunk.

Actually, he's still wrong, because one war is not all wars.

He's doubly wrong, because the Jews didn't start the Israeli-Lebanon conflict - Hezbollah (stationed in Lebanon) did by kidnapping Israeli soldiers. I don't want to get in an argument about who's right in the conflict, but Hezbollah made the first aggressive move.

He's triply wrong because the Jews weren't responsible for World War II - the Allies didn't even find out about the concentration camps until they were nearing the end of the war. While murdering Jews was a part of Hitler's world plan, it wasn't the only part - the rest was his desire to conquer the entire world, if I'm not mistaken.

He's quandruply wrong because World War I wasn't started by the Jews - it was started by conflict of ownership in the Balkan region.

Mel Gibson is WRONG about the Jews being responsible for all wars. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! His comments were hateful and false. Anti-Semites see a Jewish conspiracy in everything.

This is Hollywood. This will be forgotten in a few months.

Seriously, he looks high. Probably took some liquid ecstasy or something.

I forgive you Mel Gibson.

Now make another Mad Max movie.

They'll make another Mad Max movie right after Indiana Jones 4 and Independence Day 2 come out.
