Very nice idea Robo.

I have only been here for a relatively short amount of time compared to alot of other posters. I stumbled upon this site by accident while searching for updates on Batman Begins. I was hesistant to join but most all of the posters here accepted me and made it very easy to fit in.

It is really a nice mix of posters from all walks of life with different opinions that make this board tick. As Matt, pointed out it is a great way to kill time, for me it makes work "Fly By".

From the beginning I liked the idea of Routh as Superman and I liked the suit, for the most part. I thought the first photo was a horrible way to introduce it and was more less than flattering. Here we are now, a day or two left for most of us. I will be seeing the movie on the 29th when I get back from Charlotte on a digital screen. Oh how time flies.

Oh yeah, well, I feel like a hundred years old here, hehe, I was also here when it was still just Spider-Man Hype, I remember all the insane debates, organic webs, the black Kingpin in Daredevil, the "tankmobile" and yet another rubber suit in Batman Begins, now the dark red on the suit, small shield... Sometimes being here is warm and cozy, sometimes hysterical, sometimes downright crazy, but it´s never really boring...

Not to start any trouble but the most memorable things to me has got to be the"Predictions" made by Sameone/Lexlives before he got banned. For months he kept going on and on about how Warner bros.was trying to kill the franchise, that the movie was so overbudget, how they weren't going to promote the movie. The funniest to me was the "Fact" that they were first ashamed of Routh's performance, that they were going to reshoot all his scenes.
hysterical.

Oh yeah, the crazy conspiracy theories, we get one of those all the time... Actually, the funniest one I can remember was not here, but from some deranged SW geek who claimed that Episode II actually made much more money than Spider-Man, but the studio was holding back the actual numbers cuz of some dispute between Lucas and the studio´s stockholders... Oh yeah, the wonders never cease...

I don't post much, but i read pretty much every thread in this fourm.
It's been fun, but no matter what thinking of it all again all i can say is....

whos ready to do it again for the sequel :D

I remember when i first signed up here 4 years ago, and the Batman/Superman movie was in active development, and actually seemed like it was gonna happen. there was talk of it going head to head with spider-man 2, and stuff like that. i remember being disappointed when colin farrell and jude law were supposedly cast as batman and superman. And then, that project fell through, and the script wasnt that good either.

Then, the J.J Abrhams draft came, and everyone was pissed at the changes made. The whole Ratner era of the project was interesting, mainly because they were getting it so wrong. and then he left, and after seeing x3, im glad that bullet was dodged.

I remember 2003-2004 here, when everyone was capaigning for their own actor as superman, with the caviezel fans, the welling fans, the bailey boosters, the bomer fans, and cavill fans. The whole thing was kinda funny, because you knew none of those guys would actually be superman.

And then, Routh was cast, and the caviezel and welling fans whined like babies. you had idiots like muscles and timstuff coming through, the latter claiming singer was selfish for not casting welling. lmao. In that time, all the old, mature posters left and the board became a graveyard.

The suit came out, and it looked bad in that first photo. i remember everyone was pissed, posting up bad manips of a more comic like suit.

I must say, the SR board was a sad experience. It's shown what happens when fanboys dont get their way. They whine, and the say its not superman when it's just not the supeman they wanted. You have people who seek attention by saying negative things about the movie on purpose, people with a vendetta against the movie, and few with a good case for why they think the movie will be bad. Why do you think everyone bashes people like thunder emperor, Desk, and matt, but not guys like saint? Anyone who's been here awhile knows why. It only comforts me that SR is getting good reviews, and few bad ones.

We dodged TONS of bullets through these years... The JJ Abrams script was far from being the worst one... There was the Kevin Smith script with Jon Peters imposing stupid stuff all the way through (Superman not flying, polar bears guarding the FOS, etc.), the Tim Burton project with Nic Cage as Superman, black goth suit... McG directing with proposed pop star turned actor names like Justin Tymberlake for Supes and Beyonce for Lois... I´m used to fanboy whining, I seen much worse. And yes, if you don´t want to be bashed for being negative - or positive, depending on the boards -, make a good case and don´t just pick even the most remote opportunity to bash or defend it, all you get is people pissed with you. I wrote very negative things about FF on the FF boards and about Hulk on the Hulk boards, and I don´t know any FF or Hulk fan on the boards who enjoyed these movies and thinks I´m a troll or something.

Remember when josh hartnett kept being called in for 2nd and 3rd round casting calls for abrams script, and people were loosing their minds.

there was that, but he also kept sayin he wasn't right for the part... and he was right, he wasn't. Atleast he had his head screwed on straight (one of the few people related to the superman project at that point who did)

I remember all of those....but i particulary remember the whole ratner/McG era because it was the first time i was heavily into the superman production. As for fanboy whining, it wasnt bad here, but it was more pathetic, due to the fact that it was more about Singer deciding to use pre crisis rather than post crisis. It's hard to understand a pessimist when all they wanna do is cry over the little things.

I wish every actor who wasn´t right for the part had said the same thing... coughNicholasCagecough... CoughAshtonKutchercough...

Yeah. Those years in general were insane. it makes appreciate the fact that we got something like SR...because chances are, we wouldve had something much worse

I have been watching on here for years, and only decided to join in towards the end of last year.

I remember stuff like:

The release of the Doc Ock pic from Comic-Con back in 03,
CINO,
Batman vs. Superman,
The fiasco of early May 05 with AICN and the Budget review,
The 'oh no Batman Begins didn't make enough money, teh failure' times,
The teh Bale puffy,
Large forehead Bosworth,
The Supersuit,
Civility,
The Superman casting (Hartnett, Fraser, Walker),
The Batman casting (Kutcher, Jackson, etc),
ACIN X3 script review.....

Don´t get me started on the "Batman Begins is a flop" thing, I thought hard battles there telling people the movie was going to have legs and good word of mouth, especially with certain FF fans...

Even worse were the people saying it would do spider-man like numbers

Yeah, I remember after watching BB, and reading the boards, everyone was like "It's only made $40 million in it's 1st weekend!, it's a flop!" The BB box office thread was in a panic.

BB did very well in the end.

A lot of my memories here are filled with people's naughty language and name calling...
It's been awesome... :)

yeah, they basically set themselves for disappointment. I was optimistic myself, but not THAT optimistic.

Boob..........I just said a naughty word.:)

I remember when the Spider-Man boards were bearable...I came on hype a little before my 19th bithday(I think) and was bright and optimistic girl, happy to talk about movies. And then I remember slowly realizing that most people on hype were mean spirited idiots who disliked certain movies because they made more than others and were overall just foolish idiots.

Ahh SUPERHEROHYPE!

The site I love to hate.

I also remember the high levels of denial on the X3 boards after the first screenings of the film, e.g "Cyclops does live, Storm does a tidal wave, the film is 2:15 long" etc etc.

And the comments on the Supersuit e.g "It's not red! It's brown!"

:(. Bad times.

Remember when my contact told me Welling was getting cast and Routh got dumped? I cant believe some guy named Chicken nachos or whatever it was ran that story to all the major internet sites, like AICN, DH, CHUD, I was shocked the next day, still pissed that guy lied to me though
